He is the choreographer, the director and the star of two of the three sections, "Circus," the first, and "Sinbad the Sailor," the finale.

Sandwiched in between is 'Ring Around the Rosy," which features Gene along with a good many of Gene Kelly the world's famed dancers, Diana Adams, Tamara Toumanova, Tommy Rail and others. 'Twas Gene's Ideal "Invitation to the Dance" is something that Gene must have wanted to do in' the worst way. Now, since this arty experiment is out of his system, I hope he will leave the selection of his vehicles to MGM, the studio that has always one right, by him. Undoubtedly, there is much in this novelty that will satisfy ballet-tomanes but the appeal is limited to too few. "Circus," a tragedy, presents the star as a modern Pagliacci hopelessly in love with the ballerina who loves and is loved by the aerialist.

Kelly expresses his grief by posture while Claire Sombert and Igor Yousltevitch express amour in their dances. For me, it was all too mechanical. 'Ring Around the Rosy" is a clever travesty with witty interpretive choreography built around a bracelet that was given by a devoted husband to a wife who is enamoured with an artist. The token of love goes from the lady to her lover, or to someone else and on and on till it completes the cycle, coming back to the first recipient. Since then the act ress has been playing out-of- town engagements and fighting an uphill battle against alcohol ism "I'm on the wagon now," Diana said on the eve of her off-Broadway appearance. "I've taken this $30-a-week job because it's a good part. I'm never off-stage, I would like to point out that this so-cailed comeback of mine is not from Skid Row.

I may have been a bad girl but I never hit the Bowery." "Ivory Branch" features Mur iel Rahn as co-star and a cast in eluding Clay Corbin, Edgar Bodi ford, Gilbert Rogers, James Parker, Hal Burdick and Jean Sch-legel. The production is by the TSR Thetre Company. In "Sinbad the Sailor, Gene comes into his own, dancing as we love to see him dance as a sailor who buys an Aladdin lamp, which comes complete with Genie, that takes into a wonderful world of make believe where he dances with cartoon characters in palaces and in an outdoor fairyland.
