The lucky candidates were of course t-liciuia and profuse in their thanks and the other fellows wera equally thankful for tbe privilege afforded tbem of having a chance to attend to their own business. Mr. Bingham was not present, being OLnfined to the bouse with a cold that prevenied him from speaking ab.e a whisper. Tbe crtwd then dispersed, and the lucky candidates came in fr the con-gratulatkAis of their friends. ELECTION NOTES. Mr. Powell's yote is tbe largest ever received by any aJdermanic candidate in Ottawa. It is almost certain that Ex-Aid.

McGuire will demand a recount in Dalhouioe ward. Friends of Mr. Bingham talk of a torchlight procession to celebrate tbe victory of yesterday. Napoleon Champagne will be missed in tbe council, and in his defeat Ottawa ward loses a good friend. Tbe three mayoralty candidates worked bard all day long and were tired men avt' the close of tbe polls.

Comparatively, Mr. Bingham polled a larger vote in L'pper Town than either of bis opponents polled in Lower Town. Uaynard Rogers received a great reception at the City hall. He took his honors with becoming modesty. All lbs hackmen were driving for some one tvf the candidates, snd doubtless made a good thing out of the contest.

The only rejected ballot in poll No. 20 was le for the mayoralty. was marked opposite the name of each of the candidates. So active were Mr. Bingham's workers in Ottawa ward that voters residing in Hull had tbeir votes polled by half-past ten o'clock.

A very large number of ladies voted in Central ward. In sub-division No. 24 17 out of 25 recorded tbeir votes, among (hem Lady Ritchie. Neither Mr. Crannell or Mr.

Cluff seemed to have any kind of organization in Hy ward. Mr. Bingham's workers had tbp field to themselves. Ex-Aid. McLean's defeat in Victoria ward is attributed to over-confidence and a lack of organization.

He did not take tnuch interest in the campaign. Defeated Candidate Hudson announced his intention last night of opposing all attempts on the part of Mr. Beemer to secure further assistance from tbe government for tbe interprovincial bridge. Aid. Cluff easily defeated Mr.

Crannell in the Glebe portion of Central ward. This was a surprise, but the fact that Mr. Crannell carried Central ward by a big majority astonished (ha fluff men. COUNTY ELECTIONS. The O'Xeara Ticket Badly Beatea la Hlatonbargh.
