Wainoil eft Dispute at the Almshouse. There is said to be a dispute between the county commissioners and directors of I tie poor about building a wagon shed at the County almshouse. The commissioners claim that it is their provence to erect all new buildings on county property, and as the directors have refused to furnish the boards which will be required and do Ihe necessary hauling, the commissioners propose to let Ihe matter rest. Meanwhile wagons, hoy ladders and other valuable articles are exposed to the weather. The general opinion of the farmers and others residing in the vicinity of the almshouse is that the wagon shed is badly needed, and that if there il any difficulty about it, it should be built jointly by the commissioners and directors of the poor.

ACADKMY OF MUSIC. Uncle Tom Cabin. Whether school keeps or not, of one thing we are sure, that "Uncle Tom's Cabin" always draws a large audience. This was the case last evening. The company playing were under the management of Mr.

C. II. Smith, who has introduced a number of innovations, which, while destroying the artistic qualities of the drama, serve to keep the audience in constant laughter aud interest. These innovations are two 'J'opsys, two Marks, three donkeys, a full pack of blood hounds, etc. Mr.

Sam Luctis' impersonation of I'nele Tom was an artistic performance, and the characters generally were well sustained. The blood hounds produced a sensation. There was a full corps of Jubilee Singers and plantation hands, who gave characteristic songs. The Topsys by Miss Daisy Markoc and Miss Lillic Hamilton were in 'a good vein. The play was well received.
