THE SANDUSKY REGISTER-STAR-NEWS Thursday Oclobtr 18, 1951 Engaged County Federation Starts New Season With Meeting Wednesday NOTHER year was begun when the Erie-co Federation of Women's Clubs met Wednesday at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, ford-tp. The morning session, conducted by President Mrs. Edward C.

Scheid, was opened with the club collect, pledge of allegiance to the American flag and the invocation asked by Mrs. Louise Linn. The group voted to send a CARE package to Korea and endorsed the sending of letter to city and county commissions commending the work of Dr. N. Berneta Block, city and county health commissioner.

Mrs. Clyde Risden submitted an excellently detailed report on the Club Institute at Norwalk Country Club and Mrs. Fred Williams reported on the district health conference held in Milan on October 16. Reports were also submitted by the following chairmen: Mrs. Robert Kuehlman, program; Mrs.

William Bright, finance; Mrs. John Olcott, poetry, literature and drama; Mrs. Fred Williams, health: Mrs. Albert Hasel, radio and television; Mrs. Oscar Soderberg, Sandusky Federation delegate; Mrs.

George Gubb, members-at-large; Mrs. Elmer Balduff, Frank Rhoades, Council of International Clubs; Mrs. Duane Elmer, work of the blind; Mrs. Clifford Wonnell, movies; Mrs. Ruth Miller, war veterans; Mrs.

George Hinde, representing Mrs. C. JS. Swanbeck on loan scholarship, and Mrs. Robert Jenks, com munity service.

Reservations were taken for the Middle North district conference at Elyria on October 25. Newly appointed trustees for the Loan Scholarship Fund were Mrs. Walter Zorn, five years, and Mrs. George Parker, three years. LUNCHEON WAS SERVED at noon in the church parlors by women of the church who had attractively appointed dining tables with autumn decorations.

Each member was presented a miniature corsage of fall flowers made by members of the hostess groups: Bloomingville Community and Modern Priscilla Clubs. Mrs. William Bright was chairman of the bake sale conducted during the noon hour. THE AFTERNOON' SESSION started off with Mrs. Scheid's in troduction of Mrs.

Milton Pascoe now associated with the local ra dio station. She briefly addressed the group. Organ selections were offered by'Mrs. Raymond Brown of Bellevue who also accompanied Mrs Gaston Mitchell of Bellevue as she offered several vocal numbers. The guest speaker was introduced by Mrs.

Robert Kuehlman. He; was Richard Traeger, formerly of Heidelberg, Germany, and now of 1 Elyria and his subject was "Freedom in This Country As Compared to Freedom in Ger many." It is said Mr. Traeger held his auditors' rapt attention as he told of his experiences in a concentration camp and of his final release from the camp and his departure for America. He based his address on the quotation, "Freedom Is Man's Highest Value." Mr. Traeger was able to come to this country through a friendship established many years ago with an American whom he had met on a bicycle tour through Europe.

He has been a resident of this country for a year and a half. The federation's next quarterly meeting is scheduled for January 16. McMeens Corps To Have Initiation McMeens Corps No. 48, Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic will hold a regular meeting Friday afternoon. The feature of this meeting will be the initiation.

All members are urged to be present for this meeting which will open at 2:30 in GAR hall. Dorothy Cimicata Is Engaged To Alvin Eckler The engagement of Miss Dorothy Cimicata to Alvin Eckler is announced by her par. ents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Cimicata, 427 Pearl-st.

Mr. Eckler is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eckler, 327 Neil-st. Miss Cimicata is employed as office cashier by the S.

S. Kresge Co. and her fiance, a veteran of World War Two, is employed by the Esmond Dairy Co. She at tended and he was graduated, from Sandusky High school. A spring wedding is planned.

Schwartz With Entertainment Mrs. Fred Rossbach came from Los Angeles, and Mrs. Clarence Schoepflin from Detroit this week to assist their 83 year old mother, Mrs. Minnie Schwartz, 1423 Harrison-st, with her annual entertaining of the Women's Missionary Society, Division One, of Zion Lutheran Church. The party was held yesterday afternoon and included games and a refreshment service planned by the hostesses.

Robert Byington of Grand Forest Beach entertained October 14 with a theater party for their son, Bobby, on his 10th birthday anniversary. Bobby and his guests attended the theater and then returned to his home for refreshments and opening of gifts.
