Auburn Tom Pinkston, Central Alabama Academy's outstanding running back, has announced he will walk-on at Auburn University in the fall. Another sought-after running back, Curtis Stewart from Jeff Davis, also has plans to walk-on at Auburn. Pinkson and Stewart passed up scholarship offers from several smaller schools to try and win a spot on Coach Pat Dye's 1982 edition of the Aubunj Tigers. DEVINE LEADS CENTRAL RALLY TUSKEGEE Linda Devine doubled in the winning runs in the fourth inning to lead the Central Alabama Academy girls' Softball team to a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over Macon Academy here Wednesday afternoon. Central exploded for seven runs on five hits in the fourth inning of the second game to win 7-3. Rebecca Rutland and Laura McLeod had two RBI each. Central Alabama improves its record to 14-0 and hosts Hooper Academy Friday.

PRACTICE DKAPPOINTS BRYANT TUSCALOOSA The University of Alabama put in its ninth day of spring practice here Wednesday and head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant said he "really didn't see anything that happened in a positive manner. "That's what we look for to start off with each day," said Bryant. "But it wasn't there today. We worked on fundamentals and on some team drills. Most things I saw caused me disappointment in some of our people.

I thought they would do better than they did. But then, we have a few people who do well always." Bryant praised tight end convert Mark Jackson, defensive end Anthony Smiley and linebacker Roosevelt Hill as making good progress. Alabama will go to the practice field Thursday, Friday and Saturday in preparation for the annual A-Day game set for 3 p.m. Saturday, April 17. WILKINS EXPECTED TO DECLARE HARDSHIP ATLANTA (AP) Dominique Wilkins, Georgia's third-team Ail-American forward, has decided to pass up his senior year with the Bulldogs to participate in the National Basketball Association's hardship draft, The Atlanta Constitution reported today.

The newspaper quoted sources at the Athens university as saying Wilkins has decided to leave school and will make an official announcement later this week. "I've been turning things over in my head and I've just about made up my mind," Wilkins said Wednesday. "I guess I'll be saying something in a few days." The 6-foot-7 Wilkins, a two-time All-Southeastern Conference selection, averaged 21.3 points and 8.1 rebounds this season. He led the Bulldogs to a 19-12 record and a second consecutive National Invitation Tournament appearance. Names And Games The 5-foot-6, 152-pound running back averaged seven yards a carry in rolling up 1,228 yards and 16 touchdowns his senior year.

He was named the most valuable player in the private school All-Star game. Stewart led Jeff Davis to a 10-0 regular season record and the semifinals of the state 4A playoffs. The 5-11, 197-pound running back picked up 1,430 yards and 19 touchdowns last season. Pinkston and Stewart join a talented group of freshmen running backs. The Tigers signed Alan Evans, Vincent Jackson and Tommy Agee.

AMATEUR LEAGUE HOLDS PRESEASON GAMES Two preseason games of the Central Alabama Amateur baseball league will be played Sunday at Hunter Station. Prattville will play the Montgomery Mets at 1 p.m. and the Sharks will play Letohatchee at 3. TENNIS TOURNAMENT PLANNED Montgomery and Prattville Tennis Associations will hold a Tennis Tournament Saturday April 17 at O'Connor Tennis Center. The Tournament will have men and women divisions and is sponsored by both organizations.

A trophy will be presented to the winning city as well as individual matches. Players may register at O'Connor, Lagoon Park or Prattville Y.M.C.A. Deadline is April 15th and entries are limited.
