OWrJ McMurry Wins Appeal Over Oil-Rich Monahans Estate McMurry College will put initial money from the estate of Mrs. Rebecca Estes Gray of Monahans in its operations fund, if her relatives who contested the will do not file an appeal for reversal on writ of error to the court al Men- ahans and win Iheir case. The plaintiffs have 30 days to file such writ if they so desire.

Th8 Eighth Court of Civil Appeals at El Wednesday upheld the verdict returned last year by the Monahans district court which ruled that Mrs. Gray was sane and her proper and valid in leaving her estate to McMurry and three other Melnodis! irflllUions. Mrs. Gray died in September 1JS2. She left an estate primarily of a five-section ranch with 147 producing oil wells to McMurry, Texas Wesleyan College.

Gordon Bennett, vice-president of McMurry, said Thursday that the remainder of the inilial money, and other incoming funds would go into the general expansion and operations fund of the college. The yearly income for McMurry would amount to nn amount between $15 and $20 thousand a year for 30 years, Dr. Bennett said. Mrs. Gray left some of her property of lesser value and'cash to various friends and one cousin.

Thirty other relatives were de nied any claim to the property in her will and codicil (amendment to will). Ttia relatives had questioned her sanity at the time the property was willed.
