An action of considerable into est was tried in the Cir. cuit Court Catagasur coun ty, a short time since, in which it was decided that a ticket purchased with stipula tions printed on it was evidence of a contract between the purchaser nd the railroad company, and binding upon him; that the undertaking on the part of the Company was to transport the passenger for the price agreed upon in the time named, and was not an undertaking to carry him whenever he might choose to go; and that, having commenced his journey, he could not abandon the train that wenMhrough, and insist upon taken up as a way passenger at a future time. The Buffalo Courier avers that there has been organized in Lockport a base. none weighing less than three hundred being admitted. The name of the association is the "Paunches Pilate Club." The Atlantic Telegraph Company has issued an invitation to inventors, patentees and manufacturers of Submarine Cables, to come forward as soon as possible with specimens and plans of cables suitable for ocean service, to be submitted to the Company for examination, testing and ex peritnent.

The invitation extends to all persons engaged in the business in whatever country residing. The object being to get the very best cable that can be droduced. WARDS ISLAND. Boston, ug. 19. The Prince Edwards Island Examiner describes the tornado of the 5th inst. as the most terrific ever known on the island, tearing up strong trees and doing much damage to property.

A number of boats in the harbor wore upset ono of which contained Frederick Goodwin, son of Hon. G. R. Goodwin, formerly Collector at Cbarlottsville, and Miss Maloney. Both were drowned.

Several other cases of drowning are reported, and a vessel is supposed to have gone down with all on board seven persons. The Examiner fears also for the safety of the fishing vessels, of which there were a large number out.
