Highhland Park also won its Sunday encounter, with the Webber Juniors a slim 79-73 count. Chalifoux and Maynard each contributed 23 points to the Webber drive, with Nadeau adding 18. Mike Nappo sparked the Highland performance in both outings, marking 27 in the first tilt and' 25 in the second. Shrewsbury Rally Almost Succeeds FHS Opens With 7-6 Win The Fitchburg High School baseball team opened its 1971 season Saturday aternoon with a hard-fought 7-6 triumph over the visiting Shrewsbury nine at Crocker.Field. The Red and Gray held a 6-4 advantage over Shrewsbury after the eighth inning, but the visitors rebounded to tie the count at 6-6, pushing home two runs in the top of the ninth. Fitchburg loaded the bases In the bottom of the ninth, but when Randy Lavoie came loathe plate, FHS had been caught for 2 outs.

Lavoie. however, rapped a solid single off SHS hurler Tom Joseph to drive home the winning run.
