Applicants for ASETM (Apprentice seamen electronic mate) are eligible for a total of 42 weeks training in radio electronics, and upon successful graduation from the complete course of training, candidates are qualified electronics technicians.

The outstanding feature's of the ETM and AETM enlistment, Chief 4 Pendleton said, are the extensive and specialized training course offered, and the rapid advancement in rating, since it is possible for an enlisted apprentice seaman to advance to petty officer, second class, in a period of 42 or 44 weeks after completion of training. In the normal course of events, it was pointed out, a man entering the navy could not advance to rating until after completion of at least a minimum of 27 months service, or more than twice that length of time. The Sandusky naval recruiting station, open daily from 8 a.m., to 4:30 p. (including Saturdays), will furnish information to those calling in person or by phone 4976.
