He was dressed in a new suit of black clothes and presented a very respectable appearance. He was also provided with about fifty dollars "to sea him through. In an evil hour he fell in with a couple of young men named Robert Williarr.8 and John Brown, who had been recently employed in the iron works of Messrs Sey fert, Mc Manus though both are strangers here, the former, it is said, hailing from Potts town, and the latter from Citasaqua. They took several dtinks together, and saw the after which Mr. Carson's new found acquaintances invited him hotne to take supper with them, Tit their boarding house near the Cotton Factory.

After tea they started out again together, and walked up Ninth street. Mr. Carson states that they sat down on the edge of a mortar box, in front of a new building, to consult about the evening's" programme, when one of his new acquaintances very unceremoniously pushed him in. His black suit was, of conrsp, invented a', onco with summer colors, and wis completely ruined. Close op the County Fair. The storm which commenced' on Thursday night and continued the whole of yesterday, as a mat ter of course, operated very disastrously for the county fair, at which a great success was anticipated on the closing day.

The attendance during the day was meagre, and the exhibition was necessarily confined to the indoor department. The trotting programme was foregone, but it was decided by the Committee of Arrangements during the afternoon to have the unfinished race of Tuesday completed to day, if the con dition of the track would permit. The storm continuing last evening, however, it became evident tiiat this would be impossible and next Saturday is now spoken of as the probable date for the conclusion of this race. The fair has been finally closed, and the articles will be removed from tho house to day, It is a matter of much regret that the weather was' not favorable yesterday, as in that event, a very large turnout would undoubtedly have been witnessed.
