It will feature workshops on reporting, writing, social media, ethics and campaign-finance investigations by journalists and media professionals from across the nation.

Activities and presentations will include genealogy workshops; a Mvskoke language workshop; a presentation by storyteller Wallace Moore; presentations by scholars, lecturers and attorneys; a panel discussion and a presentation by the Urban League Young Professionals. FROM STAFF REPORTS The Muscogee Creek Indian Freedmen Band's 2015 conference theme is "Africans and Indians: Eating From the Same Pot; Generations of Shared Culture, Traditions, Language, Food and Music." The conference will be May 29-30 at Langston University's Oklahoma City campus, 4205 Lincoln Blvd. The conference will focus on the history and plight of the African Indian Freedmen from all Five Tribes of Oklahoma, Indian Territory: Creek, Chickasaw, Cherokee, Choctaw and Seminole. Activities and presentations will include genealogy workshops; a Mvskoke language workshop; a presentation by storyteller Wallace Moore; presentations by scholars, lecturers and attorneys; a panel discussion and a presentation by the Urban League Young Professionals, according to a news release. The documentary "Bloodlines" will be shown at the historic Paramount Theater in downtown Oklahoma City as part of the conference.

Conference organizers welcome attendance by scholars, history buffs, genealogists, researchers, students, the descendants of black Indians and anyone interested in learning more about the unique history of the black Indians. Speakers scheduled Speakers will include Diane Miller, national program manager, National Under -ground Railroad Network to Freedom, National Park Services, Omaha, Melinda Micco, associate professor of ethnic studies at Mills College, Oakland, and a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma; Bill Welge, director of the office of American Indian culture and preservation at the Oklahoma Historical Society; Marcus Briggs-Cloud, an indigenous rights activist and musician; Wallace Moore, living history interpreter for the Fort Sill National Historic Landmark ry Aspinwall, enterprise writer for The Tulsa World; Graham Lee Brewer, criminal justice reporter for The Oklahoman, and Sean Murphy, capital correspondent for the Associated Press. "The Professionaliza-tion of Information" panel, moderated by Kevan Goff-Parker, award-winning journalist and public relations professional for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Developmental Disabilities Services division. The panel will feature Michael McNutt, a former journalisteditor and now press secretary for Gov. Mary Fallin; Calley Herth, formerly of the Oklahoma Insurance Department, and Jennie Melendez, spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Health Care Authority.

3:15 p.m. workshops "The Changing Models of Journalism" panel, with David Fritze, executive editor at Oklahoma Watch, and The Oklahoma Observer Editor Arnold Hamilton. "Covering Live Events" panel discussing the use of social media and online tools to report the news. The panel will feature Tiffany Gibson, an online editor of NewsOK, and Adam Kemp, an enterprise reporter for The Oklahoman. Both journalists have covered severe weather, court cases and other breaking news across the Oklahoma City area.

4 p.m. Conference concludes and SPJ Oklahoma board members hold budget meeting. Museum; and Rick Fogarty, professional genealogical researcher and a citizen of the Muscogee Creek Nation. Other speakers will include Brenda Golden, an attorney and member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma; Lindsay Robertson, University of Oklahoma, faculty director for the Center for the Study of American Indian Law and Policy; attorney Damario Solomon -Simmons; and Christopher Price, director of the Honey Springs Battlefield, Oklahoma Historical Society. Registration is $60 if postmarked by May 17 and $80 thereafter.
