The Broncos are 5-2 this season with Bryant as one of its primary threats on offense. Mustang is coming off a 2016 season when the team made it to the 6A semifinals before falling to Owasso. Boys track Vernon Turner, Yukon Three times in his last four track meets, dating back to last May's Class 6A west regional, Yukon senior Vernon Turner has broken the state high jump record. Last Friday, in his second meet of the spring, Turner cleared 7-feet, 5-inches, which is the best jump by a high school athlete this year by 4 inches. It broke his own state record of 7-4 Vi from last year's state meet.

Friday and the Class 4A Preview the next day. Rose did not know what to expect as she started her high school career earlier this month, but the early success has put Rose on the radar as a player to watch in 4A. "My team has been welcoming," Rose said. "These matches have built my confidence. It gives me hope that I'm a state contender." Slowpitch softball Delanie Manning, Dale Last week, Delanie Manning continued to flex her muscles.

The sophomore hit eight home runs last week including four in a doubleheader on March 20 to bring her season total to 15 in just 12 games. In Monday's rout of Washington, Manning hit three home runs falling shy of a grand slam for the homer cycle and then homered in the next game against Purcell. Manning added a three-run homer in Dale's wild 15-14 comeback win over Tushka for the Stonewall Tournament title. The defending champion Pirates are 12-1 entering the week. JACOB UNRUH, SCOTT WRIGHT, JAMES POLING AND JOEBUETTNER, STAFF WRITERS Girls track Morganne Mukes, Edmond Memorial So far this season, Mukes has owned the sprints in Class 6A.

According to OHSTrack.com, the Bulldog senior has the top times in the 100 (11.82) and 200 meters (24.83). Last Friday at Edmond North, Mukes won the showcase races in both events, with her 6A-best 11.82 in the 100 and a 200 time of 25.26. Boys golf Logan McAllister, Christian Heritage McAllister, the defending Class 3A state champion, showed that he can compete with anyone in the state last week in Norman. A junior who is committed to OU shot a two-round total of 141 at the OU Jimmie Austin Golf Club to win the Norman North Invitational, an event consisting almost exclusively of Class 6A teams. McAllister edged Edmond North senior Austin Eckroat by one shot.

Edmond North's total of 596 won the team title. Girls golf Chloe Black, Newcastle The junior and defending Class 4A champion shot a round of 74 to run away with the Weatherford Invitational at Prairie West Golf Club last Wednesday, topping the field by eight shots. Newcastle finished third as a team, with Elk City taking the crown. Boys tennis Jack Kaiser, Heritage Hall It's not often a seventh-place team finish will earn you Player of the Week honors. But when you are playing in a national tournament, as Heritage Hall did this past weekend at the DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships in Chattanooga, seventh out of 48 teams is quite the achievement.

Jack Kaiser led the way for Heritage Hall. He won both his doubles match (with teammate Will Kaiser) and his singles match for seventh place. He also won three other matches during the weekend, which featured competition from nationally recognized high school teams such as Trinity (Louisville, Hinsdale Central (III.) and Northview (Johns Creek, Girls tennis Ciarra Rose, Crossings Christian Crossings Christian has been a Class 4A program on the rise the past few seasons. A strong team is now a championship contender with the addition of freshman Ciarra Rose, who finished first in No. 1 singles at the Moore Invitational on Baseball Parker Tipton, Norman North Norman North entered the week red hot.

One of its sophomores was a big reason. Parker Tipton had a huge week for the Timberwolves, helping pave the way to four big wins that included a district series sweep of Westmoore. Tipton, a third baseman and pitcher, was huge in that sweep, too. He hit a grand slam and drove in six runs during Tuesday's 13-10 victory. He also drove in two runs during a 13-6 win over Moore later in the week.

For the week, he went 5 for 15 with eight RBIs, six runs, the homer and a double. Norman North (11-2) entered Monday's game against rival Norman on a six-game winning streak. Boys soccer Eric Campos, Putnam City Putnam City senior Eric Campos helped his team get back on track with a dominating win last week. Campos had a part in almost every goal, leading the Pirates to a 5-0 win over Bethany after the team dropped its previous two matches. The senior earned All-City honorable mention honors last season after helping Putnam City make the Class 6A state OGBCA ALL-STATE BASKETBALL ROSTERS 1.

But after recording six catches for 48 yards in the second game of the season, a win over Louisiana-Monroe, Jones had just five catches for 15 yards over the next seven games before recording two catches for 43 yards against Baylor. "Mykel Jones is going to be a really good player," Sooners coach Bob Stoops said. "He's another guy that we feel has a lot of big-play potential, the more he plays and experience he gets. I wouldn't say his head was spinning (last year) but maybe not as accountable or reliable as Coach (Lincoln) Riley wants him to be. "But we've really got a lot of faith in him and love him as a player, and believe this can be a year he can really break out and be a big factor.

He has that kind of ability." NORMAN -Early enrol lee Creed Humphrey, a Shawnee product, has some big hurdles ahead of him, specifically one that's 6-foot-l, 329 pounds and another that's pounds. But fighting veterans for a spot on the offensive line isn't too daunting for the freshman center. In fact, just a week into spring football practice, offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh said that Humphrey was showing skills that simply can't be taught. "I don't want to put too much on him, but I've never been around a guy like that at that position, playing center," Bedenbaugh said. "I had a kid at Texas Tech, Louis Vasquez, who played as a true freshman, but he wasn't playing center.

He's very, very smart. He's strong. He's doing things that you don't coach. He's natural. He's athletic.

It's very important to him. "He's not out here missing calls. I mean, does he make mistakes? Sure he does, but not any more than anybody else. It's been pretty impressive up to this point." Oklahoma returns all five starters along the offensive line, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Sooners will start those five on Sept. 2 against UTEP.

Though the battle for starting center will likely come down to incumbent Erick Wren and one-time starter Jonathan Alvarez, Humphrey will undoubtedly get a chance to show his mettle in the spring game on April 8. "He's very aggressive," offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley said. "He's got a really, really bright future here." Terry hoping for breakout while helping youngsters Last season, Jon-Michael Terry had to wait his turn. He hopes that turn is now, as he's working as the No. 1 option to replace the departed Jordan Evans early in spring practices after Terry served a redshirt last year.

"Last year was a great learning experience for me being behind Jordan Evans," Terry said. "(He) taught me, showed me the ropes and everything." And Terry, although just a redshirt freshman, is trying to take on that same role for the large group of newcomers at the position, at least some of which are likely to have to redshirt as well. "I would tell them that even if they're not playing right away to always be playing 100 percent and always be taking your mental reps and be taking notes during the meetings," Terry said. "And all that because even if you're not getting on the field, you might be getting down on yourself a little bit, but you can't let that happen because you got to be ready because it could be your turn whenever." Defensive coordinator Mike Stoops had high praise for Terry. "I feel like Jon-Michael has a chance to be a special player," Stoops said.
