The National Weather Service received 31 reports of tornadoes Thursday from Missouri, Illinois, Alabama, Georgia and Florida, plus a report Friday of a waterspout near Cartaret, N.C. Another tornado apparently touched down Thursday near a hospital in Americus, killing at least two people and injuring an undetermined number of others, an emergency official said. WHAT'S NEXT: From Washington, President Bush offered condolences on Friday to victims of the violent storms and said he would visit stricken areas today "with a heavy heart." The White House said Bush would visit two areas today, but his destinations were still being worked out with governors in the affected states.
