Too much to see in ear WASHINGTON, D.C., remains a magnificent city for tourists, and do you remember when you could drive to practically all of the sight-seeing attractions, park your car easily and enjoy the leisurely driving? These are different days, and the best advice is to leave your car in Greencastle, or wherever it is you have come from. Or, if you must drive from home, park it in a garage in Washington except for trips to places like Mount Vernon, Annapolis, Alexandria and other points distant from the bedlam of Washington traffic. There are limousine tours, bus tours and other special charters, but by far the easiest, least expensive and most rewarding way to see the sights to compete with traffic and impossible parking conditions and your tram narrator will give you a capsule story of each historic site that will give you plenty of nuggets for memories of your trip here. The tourmobile operates along three routes, one being a combination of the other two. You can take the Capitol-Federal Mall tour; you can take the Arlington Cemetery tour, and you can take a tour that combines the two.

Your ticket is good for as many trips, as many "ons" and "offs" at various points as you wish for one full day. The mall tour, for instance, can provide for you to stop at the Capitol, the Smithsonian Institution (much enlarged by addition of aerospace and other buildings and the scene of some of the nation's worst traffic jams), Lincoln Memorial and many other places. With the ticket you can board other lourmobiles and continue on your sight-seeing. Your tourmobile narrator will give you the facts and you can set your own pace. The vehicles seat 88 persons and they run frequently.

If you take the combined tour, the tram takes you across the Potomac River to Virginia and Rives you an opportunity to see the eternal flame and grave site of President John F. Kennedy. You also may see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns (previously called the Unknown Soldier's Tomb), prowl through the Robert E. Lee home with its commanding view of the Washington Mall. There are "new" things to see here, too, at least for the old-timers who've not visited Washington recently.

There is an 858-karat emerald, moon rocks, Theodore Roosevelt Island an 88-acre wilderness preserve and a lunar excursion module. There are 11 stops on the Washington Mall tour and five in Arlington. The Washington Mall tourmobiles operate dail except Christmas Day. If you venture furthei get out your car. Th drive to Mount Vernon i a pleasant one; the sam is true of the drive Annapolis.

But, for th main sight-seeing in an around Washington, th tourmobile is by far you best bet.
