April 13. 1986 Section THE SUNDAY OKLAUOMAN Jimmy Barragan's a Hit At OSU, for Pete's Sake Slugger Steps From Shadows to Stardom Jimmy Barragan By Mac Bentley No doubt, college baseball followers in Oklahoma have been spoiled by the big numbers compiled last season by Pete Incavig-lia, the former Oklahoma State slugger now trying to solve big-league curveballs with the Texas Rangers. Forty-eight home runs, 143 runs batted in and a .464 batting average in 74 games are figures not likely to be duplicated very soon. A good season, say 14 homers, 37 RBI and a .426 batting average in just 31 games, would seem pale in comparison. Those are the numbers Jaime "Jimmy" Barragan was working on heading into Friday's doubleheader with Arkansas-Little Rock, and he might be looking at a few school records were it not for the three seasons In- Jimmy Barragan APLnMrpholo rnip'c Armv Whenever Arnold Palmer (left) is on the course, his "army" will be out in force, as it was this past week at the Masters tournament, -trine Mr Illy Despite the massive crowd support, Arnie didn't make the cut.
