Minting In 7 Say goodbye to Dave Hood By Glen Phillips Big changes are afoot at KTVY, Channel 4, and they have nothing to do with the station status after the GannettEvening News buyout. Dave Hood, co-host and producer of PM Magazine, has accepted a position as co-host of the PM Magazine team in San Diego. He makes his premiere in the California market Sept. 24. Because of advance taping, his shows will appear on Channel 4 through Oct. 4. Hood said it was a career opportunity he couldn't pass up. "1 can't say enough about how nice the people the viewers and the folks at KTVY have been 1o me here," Hood said. Sometimes, in this business you just have to move." Sept. 7 was Hood's last day as a weekend DJ on KZBS-FM. The veteran of "a lot" of radio jobs had high praise for the staff there, too, calling it one of the best stations in the country. Hood's departure puts executive producer Karitn Karim on the hot seat. Karim's newest project AM Oklahoma debuts Monday and stars Ben and Butch McCain. Karim also produces Oklahoma Football, a Sunday night segment with Barry Switzer and Bob Barry Jr., featuring a one-hour synopsis of the previous day's University of Oklahoma football game. SoKarim faces the prospect of filling two positions. Few individuals across the country are able to successfully fill both talent and producer slots. Karim indicated he was likely to fill the producer slot from within the station. And soon. A familiar face will be showing up at Channel 4 just about the time Hood heads west Meteorolgist Kevin Foreman will join the KTVY weather team. He is strictly an addition; no one is leaving. : : Foreman will share evening weather duties "with Jim Williams, spokesman Charles Andrew said. Foreman will anchor the 10 p.m. weather segment while Williams will continue filling the main spot at 5 and 6 p.m. Williams and Foreman, Dan Threlkeld and Butch McCain will be freer to cooperate on, special projects and expanded coverage during severe weather. Foreman just couldn't say enough about getting back to the Oklahoma City market. A city native, he cut his weatherman's teeth at KWTV, Channel 9, where his mother Billie Foreman worked as traffic manager. 4,I grew up here watching Cary England and Jim Williams and I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have the opportunity to work with both of them. You know, I've really been very lucky," Foreman said. Foreman comes aboard at Channel 4 Monday but assistant news director Bill Reavis speculated Foreman would go on the air about Monday, Sept. 23. 0 .Not content with merely shuffling people, Channel 4 ROOM ADDITIONS by WALDROP CONTRACTING COMPANY 32-3361 SEPT, IS, 1985 , TV NEWS
