Malemutes Lose Fifth Straight Road Game: West, 39-3 with O'NEILL Ye auld spieler has been looking for a fight since the first day he stubbed his toe on a cradle slat so here eoes with, a poke at the Southland. Printed below, for your edification and my target Is a release from Greater Anchorage, on a ras- sling show to be put on during the Fur Rendezvous. On the card is Edouard Carpentier, who claims the world heavyweight championship, and Wild Red Berry who claims he can whip the Frenchman. Be that as it may, the exhibition is billed as a championship match, and this corner is willing to wager no sanction was received from the State Athletic Commission for such billing. Nor, for that matter, has the following night's tag team performance any such sanction.

And to go a step further, Count William Varga may lay claim to an i Alaska title given him before the advent of an athletic commission, but the commission has repeatedly stated that it recognizes no champion. One thing for sure, he won't be defending any title without commission sanction no matter how the Greater Anchorage contingent chooses to bill his show. Does this mean that the State Athletic Commission refuses to sanction rassling shows? Well, no! That would be ridiculous! People like to watch the performances and you might as well ban theatre or tumbling acts as to put the kibosh on rassling as phony. The rassling game isn't phony! It isn't phony, because everyone knows it's just a crowd-pleasing show! Only when a promoter tries to bamboozle the public completly by claiming that the match is for a title does it become a black mark on athletics in general. SD don't get down on the rasslers! They put in an "honest" piece of work for their pay and they put on some fine shows.

They take some cuts and bruises, they spend most of their time on the road it's not an easy life! Maybe some of the exhibitions are actually matches! Maybe sometimes the rasslers cut loose just to see who could win it. One thing is certain the sponsor will never know it! As for the kicking Frenchman and his world title, he can have it! If he wants to come on north to Fairbanks, ye auld spieler will talk French with him and exchange a few kicks as well. This corner knows just where to place them! Of course, it wouldn't do any good! He can't lose his title in this state, any more than he could gain one!
