THE SANDUSKf MAT 4, 1943 II Social Events of City and Vicinity Former Sandusky Girl Becomes Bride of Physician In Archbishopss Chapel exceptional interest to a wide cii-cle of relatives and friends here and in Cleveland is the wedding of Miss Catherine Elizabeth Hinde, formerly of Sandusky, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrss James J. Hinde, and Dr. William E. Merrick of Cleveland, took place Saturday morning in the private chapel of the Most Reverend Joseph Schrembs, archbishop of Cleveland, at John's Hospital.

The nuptial mass was celebrated 8 o'clock by the archbishop, and iattendants for the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Rowe of Cleveland. Mrs. Rowe, also a Sandusky girl, is a life-long friend of the bride.

For her wedding the bride chose a fuschia dress with navy accessories and a pointed fox jacket. Her corsage was of violets. Groups Plan For Combined Meet The couple will reside in Shaker Heights and Dr. Merrick will continue his practice as a Cleveland physician. Mrs.

Merrick was graduated from Sandusky High school and has held a secretarial position in Cleveland for a ntimber of years. Dr. Merrick, a member of the staff at St. John's Hospital, is a graduate of Western Reserve University. St.

Stephens Guilds Arrange Monthly Meets For This Week This week, monthly sessions are being planned for both the after- noort and the evening guilds of St. Stephen's Evangical and Reformed Church. During the session of the evening guild, to be held in the church Wdnesday at 7:30 p. the three delegates attending the Sandusky Bay regional Women's guild meeting at Fremont this past will give reports. Representing the guild were Mrs.

H. E. Pfeiffer. Mrs, Eugene Daniel and Mrs. Irvin Hartenfeld, Sr.

A summary of activities of the sick committee, which is consisted of Mrs. Charles Hunter, Mrs. Alvin Knauer and Mrs. Ralph Klepper will be given, and new tainment and sick committees will be named. Concluding the evening there will be a social hour with refreshments in charge of the entertainment committee, which includes Mrs.

Robert Wilke, Mrs. George Wilke, Mrs. Gordon Willinger, Mrs. Edwai-d Zielske and Mrs. Newton Zahn.

Delegates of the afternoon guild, Mrs. Julian Young, Mrs. G. E. Miller and Mrs.

George Federkiel, will also present reports at their meeting, to be held Thursday at 2 o'clock at the cliurch. Members of the hostess committee are Mrs. E. C. Buhrer, Mrs.

G. H. Barrington, Mrs. Susan Ehrsam and Mrs. Carrie Erfurth.

Young Couple Exchanges Vows- In Holy Angels' Church Today Tn Holy Angels' Church at 9 o'clock this morning Miss Frances D. Costantino, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas M. Costantino, 1214 Carr-st, became the bride of Master Sergeant Joseph Fantozzi, of Mr, and Mrs, William Fantozzi of Huron, The single ring ceremony and nuptial high mass were conducted by the Rev.

The bride was attired in a dress of heavy satin with bow knot embroidery fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, and full skirt which ended in a train. Her floor length veil was held in placo with a cornet of lace, and she carried a bouquet of bride's roses. Mrs. Ignatius Licata of Toledo, in a pale yellow dress of summer taffeta made with an overskirt of net, and carrying yellow roses, was the matron of honor.

Hampton, was employed in Columbus before entering military service. Lodge Will Hold Meet Wednesday Sandusky Bay Rebekah lodge will meet Wednesday at 6 p. m. in I.O.O.F. hall for a potluck supper.

The routine business meeting is to open at 7:30 and will be followed by a party in of the national organization. A program is being nad there is to be a refreshment service. Lewis Hause, Mrs. Margaret Williams and Mrs, John Kershner. Local Auxiliary Receives Two Citations, Honors At Meeting When the fifth district cf American Legion auxiliaries, department of Ohio, held the annual spring conference in Crestline Sunday, the local auxiliary, of Commodore Denig post, received both departmental and na- jtional citations for meritous service. The Sandusky unit was also honored with the Armistice Day recognition for having reached the quota of membership before Nov. 11, of Lorain, district president, presented the local auxiliary with a gift of appreciation, and the mileage award, the group having traveled the highest combined mileage to attend the conference.

Sessions began in the morning in the High school, auditorium, where a joint meeting of the Legion and the auxiliaries was held during the afternoon. At 12:30 o'clock dinner was served to over 350 delegates in the Eagles' club, Sanduskians attending the conference included Mrs, Albert Jloy- er. Miss Wilma Mrs, Elizabeth Gilbert and Hugo Schaufelberger. As a special project, the local auxiliary is completely furnishing the large-sunroom as a recreation at Camp Perry. The next meeting of the local unit will be held this Thursday at 7:30 p.

Hospital Day To Be Observed At Good Samaritan Annual Hospital Day will be observed on Wednesday, May 12 at Good Samaritan Hospital between the hours of 1 and 5 p. m.

Henry Weier, Mrs. George Waldock and Mrs. Theodore Stellhorn, Jr. Friends are invited to visit the hospital and view its facilities, and there will be a silver tea frmo 1 to 5 o'clock. Donations of bed linens and towels are highly acceptable as well as gifts of money.

Weekly Meet Of Business Women Held On Monday Fifty members of Business Women's club attended the weekly supper meeting held last evening at the club residence, wayH6 -st Mrs. John Schemenauer as supper chairman, had on her committee Miss Tina Schoepfle, Miss Elizabeth Ohlemacher, Miss Alma Ritter and Miss Alma Stoffel. A discussion of the Papal peace plan was given by Msgr. Dean during the sessions and announcement was made by Miss May Bope of Toledo, that Ohio was the second state in the D. of I. sale of war bonds. A talk was given by the national regent, Mrs.

Carolyn B. Manning of New Bedford, Mass. Mrs. John F. McCrystal of Sandusky, Toledo Diocesan Council president, entertained with a tea at the Catholic club Sunday afternoon.
