The first injunction1 was dissolved by Jndge Curran last week after counsel for Brennan and Leo had contended that the affidavit accompanying the bill in equity was defective. Hearing on the present injunction has been set for Wednesday At that time the court will hear a motion for its continuance. The Pollack firm, which secured the injunction, claims that the defendants agreed in writing while in Pollack's employ that they would not engage in any phase of the fur business for two years Public destruction of nine slot machines seized in raids made by Pottsville police on several business establishment; was ordered by Judge Quran this morning.

The order for destruction of the machines was directed to A. J. Downey, Pottsville police chief. It directed moneys in the machines at the time of seizure be turned over to the City Treasurer. The order followed a rule by the court on four defendants to appear aad show cause why the machines should not be forfeited aa gambling devices.

In urging all to contribute to the 1950 Cancer drive Dr. Jones concluded, "Cancer is set to strike in every second home ia the county and to continue our program no donation is too small." Contributions may be mailed to' CANCER of the Pottsville postoffice who will forward the Letters to the county cancer office. Equity suite which E. E. Heck-ert, administrator of the estate of John W.

Heckert of Hegins, instituted in efforts to collect on an alleged 38000 promissory note given the late Mr. Heckert, have been discontinued. The estate sued Clark S. Maur-er, Hegins, the alleged signer of the note and sought to "freeze" and have the Sheriff impound whatever assets Maurer haa in the Lamar Coal Company, Donaldson, and the First National Bank of Hegins and the Tremont National Bank. An injunction restraining transfer or assignment of any of these assets was dissolved by Judge Curran last week because of a technical flaw in bonds posted to secure the injunction.

The suit sought recovery of 88000 principal and over $5000 in interest. McCormick, Ashland, operator of a trucking Arm. and Speedway Carriers, Lyndhurst, N.

J. The case had been scheduled for trial at the current session of civil court but waa taken from the trial list when the court was told that litigation has been settled. In his original suit Bailey asked 825,000 from Mrs. McCormick for injuries he suffered February 18, 1847 on the Schuylkill Haven-Or-wigaburg highway when a Speedway truck passed over his foot. He said the Speedway truck waa pushed forward when it was struck in the rear by a McCormick truck.

Bailey's claim was for permanent loss of the use of his right heel, injuries of the head, shoulder, arms, legs and body; $3,928.50 for loss of wages; 8051.48 for medical expenses and $132 for loss of clothing. Subsequently Mrs. McCormick asked the court to join Speedway Carriers, as an additional defendant in the suit and to dismiss the claim of liability against her. Speedway Carriers, then filed a counter-claim against Mrs. McCormick for $3,390.34 in repairs to the Speedway truck.
