THE ARILENE EFORTFR-NETVS Abilene Texas Friday Evening March 27 1952 Interest in City Election Light No Absentee Votes Cast So Far FREE 1953 AUTO TAGS for voters of Precinct 3 4 5 and 6 South Junior High School South 14th and Jeanette Sts for people living in Precincts 1 2 7 and The City Commission recently altered the city predncti to make the numbers correspond with those of the Anyone planning to be out of town on election day may mark an absentee ballot any time through April 3 at the city secretary's office In City Hall To be elected are a mayor two city eommiasloners and two mem- Outward Interest In the April city election apparently needed a "shot in the arm" Thursday Absentee voting which began March 18 and will continue through April 3 produced a single vote No word could be learned of plans for political rallies or speech-making Materials were on hand for holding the election Voting will be at only four boxes In order to know where to vote a citizen ahould consult hia poll tax receipt and be guided by the precinct number contained thereon The four voting boxes to be used and tbe precincts each will serve at the April 7 election are: Fire station North 18th and Orange Sts for all voters residing In Precincts 11 13 and 14 YMCA North Second and Beerh Sts for voters from Precincts 9 10 and 13 Woman's Building at Fair Park hers of the School Board All qualified voters residing anywhere in the city limits may vote on both of the city commissioner places the mayor and both School Board posts Persons living In parts of the school district which do not lie within the city limits may vote on both school trustee places but not on the other races Ownership of property Is not required for voting In this election Opposition has developed In only one race that for city commissioner No 3 Two men are on the ballot for that fob: MUam 141 North 14th St an Independent and A Crutcher Scott 2001 Lincpln Dr candidate of the Good Government League The other names on the ballot are all sponsored by the Good Government League and are running without opponents They are: Li Col Gatlin fan: mayor Jack Mlntcr city commissioner Place No 1 Fraley and Mn George Svlnney forth seeking re-election to the School Board With The Purchase Of ny Major Appliance Until March 31st Let Your Old Applionce Make Your DOWN PAVMENT RJ (Bob) COOPER Appliance Manager SEETHE NEW PORCELAIN PAN COOLER ON SENIOR FOLLIES IROGRAM These AbPene High School students will present one of the 30 numbers in the Foil!
