Xenla B. Nail, director of the Workshop, estimates there have been probably 500 cigar box banjos made by Oklahoma City boys and girls. This is based on the number of strings bought from music stores. Materials include a cigar box, one 18-Inch soft pine board that's 14 by inches, four screen door screw eyes to hold the strings, a two-inch strip of board for the bridge, and G. and A metal violin strings.

Eight of these banjos, brightly painted, are entered in the show. CHARLES who lives in Norman and is 11 years old, has sent his musical bar.
