Deaths and Funerals John D. Durham John D. Durham, 73, 708 E. Superior died at 1:40 p. m.

Tuesday in Howard Community Hospital following a one-year illness. Born in Greentown, May 18, 1900, he was the son of Elizah and Mary (Crousore) Durham. On May 18, 1920, in Kokomo, he was married to Merle Petty, who survives. He retired in 1962 from Allison Division, Indianapolis. A veteran of World War he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 52.

Surviving with the widow are a son, John F. Durham, Kokomo; a daughter, Mrs. Lavern Leicht, New Buffalo, three brothers, Delmer Durham, Greentown; Leslie Durham, Indianapolis, and William Durham, Florida; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren. A daughter is deceased. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m.

Friday in the Peacock Funeral Home with burial to follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home between 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Clara Bowen THORNTOWN-Mrs.

Clara Bowen, Thorntown, mother of Roy B. Bowen, Kokomo, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Oak Park Manor, near Lebanon, where she had been a patient for three months. She was 74. Born in Iroquois County, 111., she was married Jan.

28, 1920, to Roy Bowen, who preceded her in death March 27, 1973. Surviving with the son of Kokomo are four daughters, another son, 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Russell and Hitch Funeral Home, Thorntown, with the Rev. Sam Lotfi officiating.

Burial will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Fred Hinkle Mrs.

Armetha Hinkle, 68, Kokomo R. R. 6, died in Tipton County Memorial Hospital Tuesday at 12:50 p.m. She had been ill for four days. Born near Hemlock, July 13,1904, she was the daughter of James Marion and Lura (Sutton) McKay.

On March 20, 1943, she married Fred Hinkle, who survives. A housewife, she was a member of the Hemlock Friends Church. Surviving with the husband are a stepson, Donald Eugene Hinkle, Kokomo; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Stanley (Eileen) Mroz, Wilkinson; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Martha) Russell, Kokomo R.

R. four step-grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hemlock Friends Church with Max Hughes officiating. Burial will be at Greentown.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Home in Tipton and at the church one hour before the services. Ray A. Miller AMBOY--Ray A. Miller, 26, Greentown R.

R. 2, died at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday in the Howard Community Hospital following an eight-month illness. Born in Elkhart, Feb. 23,1947, he was the son of Andrew L.

and Barbara (Burkholder) Miller. The parents survive and live in Howe. On Sept. 3, 1966, he was married to Mary Anderson, who survives. He had lived in the Amboy and Greentown communities for about three years.

He had worked part-time at the Greentown Locker. He was a member of the Old Order of Amish. Surviving in addition to the parents and the widow are three children, Loretta Kay, Lyle Ray and Sharon Ann, all at home; two brothers, Jacob A. and Simon A. Miller, both of Nappanee: six sisters, Mrs.

Mary Lehman, Middlebury; Mrs. Harley Hochstetler, LaGrange; Mrs. Mattie Schlabach and Mrs. Katie Kemp, both of Mendon, Miss Anna Miller, Shipshewa and Mrs. William Miller, Paraguay, S.

A. Funeral services will be conducted in the George Gingerich home on Greentown R. R. 2 at 9:30 a.m. Friday with Bishop George Gingerich officiating.

Burial will be in Christner Cemetery on the Howard-Miami County line. Friends may call at the Ray Miller home after 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and night. The family prefers memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 521 W. Taylor Kokomo.

The 13-year-old girl died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in Howard Community Hospital from injuries received in a motorcycle accident occurring at 6:21 p.m.

Monday at Holiday Trailer Park. Born July 19, 1959, she was the daughter of Robert E. and Helen (Wooldridge) Estle. She had completed the eighth grade at Bon Air School this year and was a member of the National Honor Society, the Cheerleading Club, the Converse Christian Church and its Intermediates Youth Group. She had been a student tutor for grade school children.

She had attended Jackson Township School for five years and was a student in the College of Music. Surviving with the parents are a sister, Cheryl Buckley, Greentown; two brothers, Robert J. and Daniel R. Estle, both of the maternal grandparents, Mr.and Mrs. Joseph E.

Wooldridge, Kokomo. The paternal grandparents are deceased. Also surviving is a step-grandmother, Cecilia Estle, Kokomo. Election of officers scheduled Wednesday by Haworth Boosters Election of officers is scheduled for Wednesday night by the Haworth Band Boosters. The meeting will begin at 7:30 pjn.

Greentown man in fair condition after accident Randolph Lee Fite, 22, Greentown, was listed in fair condition in Howard Community Hospital after a one-car crash Wednesday morning. Howard County Police reported Fite was driving east on Terrace Drive near the intersection of U. S. 31, crossed the westbound lane and crashed into a tree at 3009 Terrace Drive. Two injured here in auto collision Billie J.

Ledford, 17, 820 Sugar Maple Drive, and Michael J. Kilty, 18, Cutler, were treated and released from St. Joseph Memorial Hospital after a near headon collision Tuesday afternoon. Miss Ledford told Howard County Police she was driving west on Ind. 22 near the intersection of Sycamore Road.

She stated a car slowed in front of her and when she attempted to apply the brakes, she lost control of her car. Kilty told police he was driving east on Ind. 22, when the car driven by Miss Ledford crossed the center line. He said he tried to stop, but could not avoid the crash. Peru bridge to cost less than expected PERU The Wayne Street Bridge will cost $6,377 less than estimated because it will not be necessary to sink piling for the first pier, according to the resident engineer, Harold Snodgrass. Indiana receives $102 in federal aid for each resident INDIANAPOLIS (AP)--Indiana received $102 in federal aid for each resident in fiscal 1972, according to figures released by the U.S. Treasury Department. Indiana received a total of $545 million in federal aid for the 12-month period that ended June 30, 1972.

But on a per capita basis, Indiana received less than any other state the figures indicated. Alaska received $17.3 million total, but that came to $570 on a per capita basis. McKamey, 37, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar L. McKamey of Plainfield, will be honored here Saturday in a "welcome home" celebration sponsored by the American Legion. McKamey was taken prisoner June 2, 1965 when his A-4 Sky Hawk was shot down over North Vietnam.

All four branches of the armed services will be represented in A 40-unit parade in McKamey's honor. 31, was ordered closed by the county sanitarian, Ray Flook, due to "unsatisfactory conditions."
