George W. Gekas, R-17, to "dishonesty" surrounding the collapse of Enron union officials said Monday.

The 30-second ad criticized Gekas' party-line vote last October for an economic stimulus package giving tax incentives to corporations, which included Enron. "Tell George Gekas to invest in our schools, and health care, and stop supporting corporate greed," an announcer intones. But the ad then ended with former Enron employee Deborah Perrotta Agnes I. She was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School. She worked as a clerk for the former Pomeroy's Department Store, Pottsville.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, and its Women's Guild. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marge Molin and Diane Bildheiser; two brothers, Joseph Devaney and John Molin. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Francis whom she married on Sept. 10, 1949; a daughter, Margaret A.

"Fritz" Leitzel, 70, of Newburg, died Sunday at home. Born in Gratz, June 10, 1932, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Alma Moyer Leitzel. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired self-employed truck driver and mechanic. Preceding him in death were four brothers.

Surviving are his wife, Janet three sons, Dennis Delaware, Ohio, James Carlisle, and Michael Newburg; two daughters, Susan R. Dunlap, Newburg, and Christine E. Stouffer, Orrstown; two brothers, Clair, Gratz, and James, Halifax; two sisters, Anna Peiffer and Mary Straub, both of Elizabethville; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Shippensburg.

Helen Stakem Kessler rites Helen "Pat" Stakem, 74, of 113 W. Broad Williamstown, died Sunday night at home. Born in Williamstown, Dec. 16, 1927, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen Fear Welsh. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Williamstown, and Williamstown Senior Citizens.

A daughter, Jennifer Carl, died March 26, 1998. Surviving are her husband, Michael F. to whom she was married 53 years on Sept. 10; five sons, Michael F. III, Lebanon, James and Kevin, both of Williamstown, and Shawn and Patrick, both of Tower City; four daughters, Kathryn Humphries, Millersburg, Monica Updegrave, New York, Maureen Watkeys, Williamstown, and Bridget Mattern, Elizabethville; 23 grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

His was first affiliated with National Guard in Tamaqua. He was a customer service supervisor for Hamburg Post Office, where he worked since 1996. Prior to that, he worked for the Pottsville Post Office as a city carrier and then a customer service supervisor starting in 1985. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Township.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, the former Kathy M. Breidegam; a daughter, Jenna M. Kauffman, at home; a stepson, Michael J. Phillips at home; two sisters, Kimberly A. Lawell and Christine J.

Mistysyn, both of Orwigsburg; a nephew; two nieces. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Tilden Township.
