THE LATROBE BULLETIN TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 1985 PAGE 5 given sentence for slaying PITTSBURGH (AP) An Allegheny Common Pleas judge sentenced a Pittsburgh woman to 3 to 6 years in jail, saying she didn't deserve the maximum sentence on her conviction for killing a husband who beat her. The sentence for Kathleen Dollman, 35, of Pittsburgh could have been 5 to 10 years on her involuntary manslaughter conviction, Judge Robert E. Dauer said Monday. She was tried in December on charges that she shot her husband, Edward Weismantle, during a fight in their living room in 1979. Ms.

Dollman testified that on the night she killed him she had been beaten and sexually abused by Weismantle, and that he threw their 3-year-old daughter across a room. Her son from a previous marriage, Jack Beauchamp, then 13, also convicted of involuntary manslaughter, was placed on probation Monday. Testimony said Beauchamp showed his mother how to use the rifle used in the killing. Weismantle's skull was dug up by the family dog several years after the killing, which provided police with a break in the case. Baughman said he's hoping to take over the station June 1, and that he plans to change its format. "It will not be a music-based format," he said. "It's not going to be all talk or all news, but it will be strongly geared to the community and oriented to its Margaret I. Kibble Margaret I.

Court rules on TMI claim HARRISBURG (AP) A woman who fled her Harrisburg job the day of the 1979 Three Mile Island accident to escape radiation exposure was not entitled to unemployment benefits, according to Commonwealth Court. A three-member court panel Monday upheld the state Unemployment Compensation Board of Review decision denying Mary Southard benefits. Ms.

Southard left her job at Honeywell Inc. on March 28, 1979, in order to avoid radiation emanating from the plant during the accident, according to the court opinion. During the accident, the worst in U.S. commercial nuclear history, the atomic reactor's core overheated, melting some of the fuel and releasing radiation into the environment. The plant is in Middletown, about 10 miles southeast of Harrisburg.

Ms. Southard said she became aware during a 1935 illness that radiation made her fatigued, nauseous and generally ill, the opinion said. The board said it was not persuaded by a doctor who testified that Ms. Southard had a particular sensitivity to low-level radiation. Commonwealth Court ruled that the board's disbelief of her doctor was not a "capricious disregard of evidence."
