As of Monday, the farm was abandoned. Hulley said doors to all outbuildings were left open, lights and a radio were on in the THERESA LATE, LATE FREAK IN EVERY fAMLY- PAPA! 4 CAN'T YOU SLEEP? (UPI) -Convicted rapist George Feigley continues to elude a massive dragnet spread out in north-central West Virginia, following a well-planned escape. Feigley, 39, Harrisburg, was picked up by West Virginia authorities last month, two years after he fled the Pennsylvania Correctional Center in Rockview. Feigley was serving a 10-to-20 year term for the statutory rape of three girls, aged 11, 13 and 15 all students at a school conducted in his Harrisburg home. James Lee Gilbert, 22, Rosemont, who escaped with him early Monday, was serving six months at the Taylor County Jail for petty larceny. Gilbert had been allowed to work at an all-night gas station in a work-release program.

Admitting his men are "at a dead end" in the manhunt, Taylor County Sheriff John Hulley said Tuesday the escape was planned to minute details, including phony entries in the jail log as "diversionary things" to ensure that deputies were miles away when the break occurred. Entered on the log was a 1 a.m. call from a woman reporting an accident with injuries at Simpson, about 10 miles away. The "caller" didn't identify herself, explaining she was at a phone booth. A deputy sent there found no sign of a crash.

The log simultaneously shows another deputy answering ti valid call on a man flashing a gun a mile south of town. A man identified as "Sam Carter" is listed at 1:18 a.m., reporting a burglary at i diner five miles west of town. The man gave a phone number that turned out to be the daytime office number of the sheriff's office. The telephone directory listed no "Sam Carter." Seventeen minutes after the second false report, Gilbert showed up to report that the all-night gas station closed early. He allegedly robbed the jailer and a trusty, freed Feigley and sped off in an unidentified vehicle.

Weather A dome of cool Canadian air stretching from Maine to the Gulf of Mexico produced clear skies, chilly temperatures and killing frost in much of Pennsylvania during the night. The mercury dropped into the teens in some mountain valleys and 20s to low 30s elsewhere. The high pressure system associated with the cool air will continue to move east, allowing a southerly flow of milder air to move into the Middle Atlantic states later today.

A weak cold front in the Midwest will continue to weaken as it moves southeast and give us some cloudiness tonight and Thursday.
