"These boys mere sophomores when I came here three years they're seniors, and I've had the same group three years. They stuck it out," Wilson said.

He added, "They've been a great group to work with, and they've built a lot of a a i i themselves. They wanted to win and they were willing to pay the price. When the going got tougli, these kids got themselves up every time." Wilson said proudly, "In every ball game when it counted and our opponent had the ball inside our 10-yard line, we held. We forced 20 fumbles this year and our defensive secondary did not allow a touchdown pass all year." All this was done with a squad which had only 38 players. Seven of the boys went both ways.

The Tigers were led by Dick Tinkle and Bob Huffine. Tinkle played quarterback and Huffine halfback on offense and the two combined to make up the Hagerstown defensive backfield. Tinkle passed for over 1,000 yards for the second straight year, throwing for 14 touchdowns. He wound up the season with 64 of 123 passing attempts, completing 38 of those to Huffine for nearly 550 yards. Tinkle also ran for nine touchdowns.

But Huffine led that department, scoring 13 touchdowns and running for two conversions to total 112 points. And while talking about his team, Wilson looked wistfully out at the Tiger football field and said, "You know, it seems funny not to be out there practicing. 1 kind of wish we had just one more game." Celts Topple Royals, Keep Division Lead OMAHA, Neb. (AP) Boston protected its lead in the Atlantic Division of the National Basketball Association on the above-average shooting of Dave Cowens and a late point flurry defeating Cincinnati 120-109 in the only league game Monday night. A crowd of 6,035 watched a Cincinnati rally fall short in the fourth period in the only pro basketball game to be played in Qmaha this season.

Cowens hit for 30 points, 11 above his average, as the Celts rolled to a 97-83 i i a a a then needed some quick baskets to turn back a rally by the Royals. Boston, making its record 9-2, used connections on jumpers and drives by Jo Jo White-- who scored 24--to build the third quarter lead. Williams came off the bench to lead a comeback try for the Royals, who trailed throughout. Cincinnati cut the margin to 106-100 before Don Nelson and Cowens put it out of reach for Boston with two goals each. Williams, who finished with 26 points to lead the Royals, scored three baskets late in the game.

Japan Finally Beats Orioles! KYOTO, Japan (AP) The Japan series champion Tokyo Yomiuri Giants, teaming with the Pacific League champion Hankyu Braves, erupted for 12 hits off four Baltimore hurlers today and whipped the American League champion Orioles 82. It was the first loss in Japan for the Orioles, the 14th U.S. major baseball club to visit this country on a barnstorming tour. The Orioles have won eight games and tied three others. Hisashi Yamada of the Braves, the Pacific League's top pitcher in the 1971 season, outclassed Jim Palmer in a duel between two 20-game winners.

Yamada held the Orioles to seven hits, including a home run and two doubles. Palmer gave up three homers and two singles in the first four innings, and was relieved by Pete Richer! in the fifth. The 23-year-old Yamada held the visitors to four hits and one run until the sixth when first baseman Boog Powell powered his fifth home run in Japan. Open House? Let's Try That One More Time For all the parents in the Northwestern School district, this little story is to set the record straight. The Northwestern Junior-Senior High School open house for parents and students will be Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The Tribune has reported twice that open house would be Thursday and once that it would be Wednesday. School officials say the open house is definitely Wednesday. Tours of the school and several special programs will be included on the informal program.

Human Relations Unit To Meet Thursday Night The Kokomo Human Relations Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the city council chambers. Mrs. Jeanne Mays, executive director, is to give reports on the school situation, the newly-reformed civil rights act and complaints of discrimination. Smith To Start 2-Year Term As State Fair Board Member INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Don Smith, president of Indianapolis Raceway Park, will begin a two-year term Wednesday as the member of the State Fair Board in charge of its auto racing department.

Smith, executive vice president of the First National Bank of Terre Haute, was named to the post by Gov. Edgar D. Whitcomb. He will succeed Joseph L. Quinn who has served the maximum four successive two-year terms on the board.

Smith, who is also director of racing at the Terre Haute Action Track, was the unsuccessful Democratic candidate for mayor of Terre Haute in 1967. Other new fair board members appointed by Whitcomb for two-year terms are Linville Bryant of Versailles, representing the ninth agricultural district; and Dwight Smoker of Wanatah, representing the third agricultural district. Reappointed for two-year terms were Edward Barham of Carmel, Paul Thurston of Alexandria, Horace Abbott of Indianapolis, Ross McKee of Kentland and Oren Wright of Greenwood.
