Haig, dispatched by President Nixon on a tour of Southeast Asian capitals to assess Cambodia's worsening' military and political crisis, spent two consective days conferring with Lon Nol and other Cambodian officials. One prominent Cambodian politician said today Haig told Lon Nol of Washington's concern over the Cambodian situation and added: "Gen. The body of Jo Ellen Smith, the daughter of New Orleans Tax Assessor James W. Smith, was found by police in a deserted field in the Algiers section of New Orleans Tuesday. She was clad in a bra and slip, and she had been shot three times in the face. Police arrested Stephen Berry, 17, a resident of the Fischer housing project, and charged him with Miss Smith's murder. Miss Smith had been missing since Sunday, when she went to visit an elderly diabetic woman in the Fischer project.

She had been teaching the woman how to inject insulin. Dean June Hannon of the nursing school said, however, the visit to the project was unscheduled and violated the school's policy on home visits "We have policies and instructions stating that they go in pairs and do not make weekend visits or make them after 2 p.m.," the dean said. "In the past, there has not been a violation." In light of the murder, she said, "we certainly would want to evaluate the safety factor" of the home visits program. Lt. Gov.
