Cowboys 26 Wildcats 24 Tigers 16 Buffs 7 Fillies win crown CODY The Casper Natrona Fillies won the Class AA state volleyball championship Saturday at Cody. Deanna D'Abbracclo's Fillies whipped Cheyenne East by 15-9 and 15-6 in the championship battle for the Class AA crown. Worland topped Laramie by 16-14 and 15-5 for third place while Rawlins upended Rock Springs by 15-8, 8-11 and 15-12 for the consolation prize.

Charlene Olson led the Fillies In the first game against East with six points as Diane Duncan and Rhonda Cochran scored four each for Natrona. Laurie Tucker paced the Fillies In the second game with four points while Duncan, Cochran and Terri Schneider added three points apiece. Lisa Hovey was high scorer for East in the first game with four points and Kay Carson led the losers in the second game with five points. The turnover recoveries by Shelby and Steinmark ran Wyoming's defensive total to 19 times they have figured in touchdowns or field goals on opposition miscues. Wyoming took the opening klckoff on a exchange fake as Jones returned 81 yards to Arizona 16-yard line.

The victory over Arizona was not cinched until Sammle Steinmark and Kevin McClaln tackled Charles Nash at the Wyoming five-yard line as time expired. Arizona quarterback Marc Lunsford completed a 42-yard pass to Nash on the final play of the game.

(UPI) -Sophomore Ira Matthews scored two touchdowns, one on a 100-yard kickoff return, and Wisconsin stormed back from a 14-0 first quarter deficit to defeat Iowa 38-21 in a Big Ten football game Saturday. The victory, which came before a capacity homecoming crowd of 79,521, gave the Badgers a 2-4 conference record and 3-5 overall the same as Iowa. The sellout was Wisconsin's third this season.

The Badgers led with 6:41 left when Matthews electrified the crowd with his return, his second this season. Then, with less than two minutes left, Matthews padded Wisconsin's lead with a 15-yard scoring run. Iowa had won two straight before the loss to Wisconsin. PROVIDENCE, R.I. Quarterback Jim Kubacki had touchdown runs of one and eight yards following Perm errors and Mike Lynch kicked field goals of 20 and 26 yards as the Crimson ran their season record to 6-2 and their Ivy League standings to 4-2.
