Wanda Simon and Annie Mae Guilbeau conducted this workshop. The chairman presented a leader training on alcohol pregnancy. Members attending will present the program at all club meetings in Evette LeBlanc and Laura Belle Hebert explained family life and youth development phase of work to local leaders. Their objective is to present educational programs, help promote and develop family strength positive self esteem for families as a unit and to improve relationship among family members.

Assisting the 4-H program in Vermilion is a main objective of the council. The objective of the international understanding program is to create a better understanding, good will and friendship between Extension Homemakers of U.S. and other countries. Clubs select a country to study and on alternate years participate in an International luncheon. This enables members to become familiar with foods, cultures, traditions, government of other countries.

The leaders were trained by their respective state leaders in order to teach local project leaders. Six educational programs are entailed.

The objective of citizenship energy enviro-ment is to increase knowledge and understanding of our citizenship rights and responsibilities in homes, clubs, communities and country. We need to develop an awareness of necessity for energy conservation and care of the environment. Lisa Broussard and Linda Comeaux serve as leaders of this program of work. Reviving traditional home arts, promoting workshops, book reviews, donating books to libraries, schools, hospitals, displaying quilts and craft exhibits are stressed through the cultural arts program of work. Arthurine Menou and Ella Mae Harrington presented their workshop on these ideas.
