pmDhasis I upon a health council in every school, Lycfia's Beauty Parlor has been mov ed to 309 N. State street. Mrs. Gabriel Abshire announced Wednesday. The entire building with equipment was moved from their former location on North Jefferson street to make way for the new parish library building.

Mrs. Abshire said that a massage room had been added and! the shop had been enlarged in order to eive a more complete service to the patrons of the beauty parlor. The new establishment was schedul ed to open Thursday. The installation of water lines for the building were incomplete Wednesday morning. Mrs.

Abshire is assisted In the opera tion of the beauty parlor by Mrs. Ray Hebert. Emery Sellers Will Attend FFA Convention Louisiana has been asked to prepare and! present a pageant depicting Louisiana Folklore at the National F. F. A Convention to be held in Kansas City, Missouri on November 17-24.

Six girls and six boys from southwest Louisiana will take part in the presentation. A group of F. F. A Boys from this section met in Lafayette on October 2 and judges form the College chose the participants. Emery Sellers was selected to represent Vermilion Parish in this activity Abbeville High School is proud of this opportunity of one of its students to advance the interests and cultural background of Southwest Louisiana.

LynnPeets Honored Members of the younger set were entertained at a lovely party and weinner roast, Thursday night, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Peets, in honor of their daughter, Lynn, on her thirteenth birthday.

The young guests gathered on the spacious lawn of the Peets home where games were played and delicious hot dogs, ice cream, cake and cold drinks were served. S. CONFERENCE IN MONROE A meeting of the Lake Charles District Seminar of the Women'3 Society of Christian Service was held in Eunice, Friday, October 1, at the new Methodist Church, Rev. Stovall, pastor. The program for the day was in charge of Mrs. Dick Watson, president of the District Conference.

It's theme was "By This Light Shall the Nations Walk." Very interesting topics were presented by several Conference officers, who were introduced by Mrs. Watson. Among the officers who spoke were Mrs. Guy Hicks, Mrs. Don Colette, Mrs.

Sam Dunbar, Mrs. C. F. Gold-thwait, Mrs. E.

A. Sartor and Mrs. D. M. Campbell.

Members of the W. S. C. S. who motored to Eunice to attend were: Mesdames D.

Phillip Rodrigue of Ibena parish. tv. a TuorMincr was solemnized at the St Mary Magdalene Catholic church t- nVlork in the afternoon, with Rev. Edmund Daull, pastor officiating. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, John, was attired in a smart Iris blue tailleur, with which she wore Sherry hat and gloves, her remaining accessories were of black.

Her shoul der corsage consisted of clusters 01 white carnation. Miss Myrtice Rose Thibeaux, of Lafayette, niece of the bride, was her only attendant. Best, man was the groom's brother, Elmo Rodrigue. Special wedding music was rendered during the ceremony including the traditional processional and recessional with Mrs. Felix J.

Samson at the console of the organ, and Mrs. Lloyd Dore as vocalist. Following the ceremony the young couple left for a short wedding trip, after which they will reside in Iberia parish. Mr. and Mrs.

Broussard Hosts to Bridge Club One of othe week's loveliest entertainments was that at which Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Broussard were hosts to the members and guests of the Wednesday Night Bridge Club, at their home on North Louisiana Street. A delicious chicken supper was served before the playing of games. Members present were: Mr.

J. E. Kibbe, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Henry, Mr.

and Mrs. Lloyd Dore, Dr. and Mrs. P. O.

Bienvenu Hostess At Birthday Party of Stitch and Chatter Club The home of Mrs. Ralph Bienvenu on Edwards street was the scene of a lovely party Thursday night, when members of the Stitch and Chatter Club gathered for their annual Birthday Party, with Mrs. Bienvenu as their hostess. Colorful arrangements of fall leaves and late fall flowers were used in the decoration of the Bienvenu home for the occasion. The table was laid with a lace banquet cloth and centered with a beautifully decorated birthday cake, surrounded by gifts for each member, which were exchanged later in the evening.

Members present for this delightful occasion besides the hostess, were Mrs. Paul Piazza, Mrs. C. M. Click, Mrs.

Dudless Pierre Broussard, Mrs. Bill Lester, Mrs. Johnny LaUande, Mrs. Norris Broussard and Mrs. Karl Hollier.

Mrs. Bienvenu had as her guest Mrs. Stanley Morton. Delicious birthday cake, and sherry jwere served throughout the evening. CATTLE DISEASE CLAIMS 100 HEAD IN-VERMILION Gueydan, La.

Approximately 100 cattle have been lost from anthrax or charbon in an area north of Mallard Bay between Lakeside and Ellis Brodge, according to reports reaching here recently. There are approximately 3,000 cattle in the area. Veterinanians, from Lafayette, Crowley and Lake Charles have been working In the district vaccinating cattle during the past week. The disease broke out ten days ago. At present the disease seems to be under control.

Cattle vaccinated during the spring apparently have been un-affected by the disease, the reports indicated. The largest flour mills in the world are located in Minneapolis, Minn. Did You Know? and Mrs. Roy Moss motored to Beaumont, Tex as Saturday to attend the reburial rites of Mrs. Moss nephew, Frank Hassan, who was killed on Leyte on October 20, 1944. Services were held from the Broussard's Chapel, with Interment in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park at Beaumont. Mrs.

and Mrs. Harry Dayton of Port Jefferson, New York, are the guests this week of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Brasseaux. Mr.

ENTERTAINS AT 500 CARD Members of the Tuesday Afternoon 500 Card Club were entertained at a lovely party this week, when they met with Mrs. Frank Frederick as their hostess at her home on St. Valerie Street. Members present were: Msdames E. R.

Bergeron, E. A. Latour, M. L. Thomas, J.

W. O'Bryan and Frank deuraauw. Guests were Mrs. Cecile Gosselin and Mrs. Antoinette Boutte.

Mrs. Frederick captured first prize, Mrs. Bergeron, second and Mrs. O' Bryan cut consolation. The hostess served a delicious salad course and ice tea to the members and guests.

Dalton Gary of Laf ayette, was honored on her first birthday, Sunday, October 3, with a party at the home of her grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Montey in LeKoy. G. Guidry was a charm ing hostess last Friday, when she en tertained members of the Weekly Coffee Club and her guests at a love ly party at her home on East Oak street. Members present were Mrs. Paul St. Marie.

Virgil Moreland. Mrs. Guidry had as her euests Mrs. Vincent Vennaro and Mrs. Fernand Frederick.

The hostess served delicious fudge squares, macaroons and coffee to the members and guests. Negro school program, the group felt there was a pressing need for more in tensive supervision in those schools. Miss Thyra Montgomery will meet with primary grade teachers and G. W. Sudduth, assistant superintendent and supervisor, will meet with high school teachers. Ledet told the supervisors, that a sy stem of supervision should be worked out for the school lunch program. He pointed out that there had been no such supervision before and that it was needed.

The group decided that some schools need suggestions for more efficient handling of pupils and for improvements of menus. principal who is also a full-time teach er, the supervisors agreed that they should devote more of their time with these smaller schools and allow the principals of larger schools to assume responsibility for instruction in his school by delegating as many administrative duties as possible to members of his staff. The date for the next monthly meeting of the staff with the superinten- dent was set for the Monday preceding eucu regular scnooi Doara meeting. Virginia Broussard Wins High Honors Miss Virginia Emelie daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Andrew R. Broussard, 614 N. Louisiana St, has won high honors in English at St Mary's Dominican College in New Or leans, Sister Mary Louise, O. pre- sident of the college, announced.
