GRANDTHEATRE AND AN ALL STAR CAST June. Both players are well known to Reading audiences. A report from the Edison studit that almost turned the world upside down reached us last week in the style that Mary Fuller, who created "What Happened to Mary," the. first serial feature a year or two ago, was going to give up the photo play business, marry and settle down. There is no foundation to the report, and Mary tells us it's just another of the "Dolly of the Daily" notices.

Gaby Deslys, who caused no less of a sensation on the American stage the past two seasons, will' be featured in a coming Famous Players film production. During the past year Harry Pilcer and 4aby were doing a vaude ville dancing creation that packed houses for vaudeville managers, and her success on the screen will be just as good a drawing card. James loung, who has had many stage experiences in Shakespearean productions, is directing Hamlet, a big release to be put out by Vita graph. James Young will be Feen as "Hamlet," Clara Kimball Toung will be seen as Roger Lytton, the king; Charles Kent, "Polonious," and Harry Morey, the "ghost." James Young has played "Hamlet" SOO times. The popular serial features will be seen at the following local theatres this week: "Iucille Love," at the Gem today; "Lucille Love," at the Grand Thursday; "Our Mutual Girl," at the Palace Friday; "Our Mutual Girl," at Pictureland Thursday; "Pathe Weekly," at the Empire Thursday! "Hearts felfg Pictorial," at Lyric today; "Perils of Pauline," at Royal Tuesday; "Adventures of Kathlyn," at Family Thursday; "Adventures of Kathlyn," at Schuylkill avenue today.

Klaw Erlanger Riograph combination announce "Classmates," their next big feature attraction, to be released in the near future. "Classmates" was played on Rroadway by Robert Edeson. Francis X. Bushman won the Ladies' World popularity contest just closed. He will be seen in the leading role in "One Wonderful Night," the great story which has been running serially 'in the Ladles' World I Magazine.

Kerrigan finished second and t'ostello third. Ben Webster, the popular leading man, well known in Reading, will be seen In films soon. His first release is in "The House of Temperley," produced by the London Film Company, Limited. Ben Webster is the same style actor as Courtenay Foote and will cause, as much riot among the girls as Foote does. Last week the All Starm Film Com pany announced I pton Sinclair's Jungle," with George Nash and Gail Kane in the leading roles.

This week they announce a production called 'Dan," by Hal Reid, featuring Iew Dockstader, the minstrel king, in a remarkable burnt cork comedy role. Dockstader is the first prominent burnt cork artist to go Into pictures. t'HTKF RODK.RK'K ILL. HAZKLTON. May 17.

This is the first time Mary Pickford at Princess All Week in local motion picture history that one house has billed a single feature for one solid week, but the management, always desiring to please the picture loving public, want to give everyone a chance to see this superb feature, which has been pronounced by everyone who has witnessed the riumphant effort of the Famous Players and their directors.

The famous tale of a woman's heroism, "Tess," the drama of a woman unconquerable faith, written a woman who knows her sex, will appeal to the entire feminine popula ion of the entire world, and the other half. The role of "Tess." with her quaint philosophy of life, at once humorous and pathetic. Is one of the most powerful characterizations ever portrayed. "Tess" Is the elemental type of womanh iod. a primitive heart struggling with modern conditions and the delicate tortures of civilization.

Mary Pickford's "Tess," the ragged little squatter girl, dirty but beautiful, rude, wilful, saucy but nohle and self sacrificing, tenders a. portrayal of inexhaustible fascination. The feature is told in six reels, with thrills mingled with the sweetest of human traits compassion. The picture is a dramatic triumph for the Famous Players, who have given many brilliant productions in the past, but this is even greater than any that has yet distinguished Mary Pickford's phenomenal career The management have carefully figured the time of the beginning of each show and the audiences will be able, to see the complete production from the very' beginning if they will follow the time announced at the Princess. One other comedy reel, "Slippery Jim's Strategy," by the Es sanay comedians, will be shown on the same program.

LYRIC Heading the interesting program at the Lyric for Monday and Tuesday will be the Hearst Selig News Pictorial showing the first moving pictures of the doings in and around Vera Cruz; occupation of the Mexican port by the United States troops, shown in motion photography by a staff photographer. Sailors and marines who seized the city, damage caused by fire from the V. S. S. Prairie, arrival of the regulars from Galveston and caring for the wounded most graphically depicted.

"The House of Bondage," one of the greatest stories covering the White Slave question that has ever been con ceived, will be featured at the Grand Theatre for three days, beginning: to day. Reginald Wright Kauffman's stirring story aroused the entire world when first published and the film will pack the Grand during their appear ances in this city.

Iottie Pickford sister of Little Mary, and one hundred other prominent players will portray the many roles. Carr Schad will feature Mary Pickford in the most brilliant triumph of her career, "Teas of the Storm Country," a six reel version of the novel' by Grace Miller White. The feature will play at the Princess for a solid week. This is the first time in local picture history one star in the same feature ha been billed at a single house for an entire week. Probably the most Interesting step in the picture business is the singing: picture novelty, a feature attraction appearing exclusively at the Palace every Wednesday.

The film is almost as good as a big vaudeville turn, showing gome of the beat people in the business putting the songs across in a remarkable manner. Every word is understood In the last row in the theatre, and the songs are actually applauded. "Bobbin' Up and Down" is one of the songs to be heard eWdnesday. Courtenay Foote, one of the most polished actors in the picture game today and until recently with the Vita graph forces, will be featured in a Majestic drama, "The Quicksands" at Pictureland Tuesday. No actor in pictures today Is better known and pleases hlR audiences easier than Arthur Johnson, the pnpu ar actor director of the Luhin Film Plant. Arthur Johnson and charming Ixittle Briscoe will appear in a two reel special at the Empire Wednesday and Thursday, called "The Inventor's Wife." The role is said to give John son a remarkable chance to distinguish himself, and recall his work in Biograph of long ago. The management of the Victor will feature Vitagraph's excellent drama "The Woman in Blaxk," Wednesday and Thursday, fea.tmntg Maurice Cos tello, Mary Charleston and other Vitagraph celebrities in the important roles.

The Costello Charleston team Is proving ust as popular a the old Costello Turner combination of a few years ago. The local exhibitors are advocating the ten cent show proposition which is now current in almost all metropoli tan cities. The Savoy runs one of these bills every Friday and Ben Zerr has a feature show every Wednesday at the Schuylkill Avenue Theatre Feature pictures are costing more every day and judging from the big houses where these prices prevail, the local patrons are thoroughly In favor of seeing the best regardless of the box office sign. "Beasts of the Jungle," a three reel Solax with Darwin Karr, is billed at the Savoy next Fri day and Manager Zerr will run "The Lion and the Mouse," featuring Ethel Clayton at the Schuylkill Avenue Theatre next Wednesday. VICTOR The Victor program for Monday and Tuesday leads with Vitagraph's excellent dramatic production, "Miser Murray's Wedding Present." and feat ures an all star cast, including Van Dyke Brooke.

Rose Tapley, Norma Talmadge and Leo Delaney. The story concerns an old miser who loves his daughter but refuses to give her up, the same with his money and the jewels, but the inevitable ha.ppens. Cupid Interferes, and he gives up all. Pathe's two reel comedy, "Breaking Even," is one of those well drawn Pathe farce comedy subjects, featuring an excellent cast of characters. A Lubin comedy drama, "By the Burg lar's Help," with a.

fine oast, is another subject that will be on the interesting program. The bill for the first two days concludes with a two reel Kalem special, "Regeneration," featuring Guy Coombs and Anna Nillson In the leading roles. That will power, aided by uplifting environment, can overcome hereditary taints Is the argument advanced in this two part Kalem feature, covering the old sociology problem. Coming Wednesday and Thursday, Maurice Costello and Mary Charleston in VitagTaph's great story, "A Woman In Black," and a big Edison two reel special, "The Song of Solomon," featuring a big cast of prominent Edison players. EMPIRE The Empire Theatre will feature another extraordinary program for Monday and Tuesday, leading with the popular Earle Williams in Vitagraph's great dramatic production, "The Battle of the Weak," supported by such well known favorites as Harry T.

Morey and Julia Swayne Gordon. The weapon of wealth is used t0 forr a defenseless victim of genteel poverty into suDmissii n. ims is the theme in "The Battle of the Weak." The second important attraction on the program is Mary Fuller In the seventh chapter in Edison's "Dolly of the Dailies" series, called "The End of the Umbrella." Dolly investigates the aqueduct explosion, finds a queer umbrella, gets a job as the cashier at the hotel nearby and puts the umbrella out for bait. The result is a hand to hand fight in which her opnent has a fatal finish and Miss Dolly is badly injured. Mary Fuller is at her best In this instalment of the Dolly series.

A two reel Vitagraph special feature, with Ann Schaeffer and Margaret Gibson, "Ma reea, the Half Breed," tells of priceless love wasted upon a worthless object, brings two women together in a common sympathy and a little child conquers the spirit of revenge. Lionel Barrymore will be featured in Bio graph's powerful drama, "In Fate's Circle." Mlllicent Evans, a popular Broadway actress, supports Lionel Barrymore in this big attraction. A Lubin comedy, "Building a Fire," with Mae Hotely in the leading role. completes the excellent show at the Empire for Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday, another brilliant star bill, headed by Arthur Johnson and Lottie Briscoe, in a two reel Lubin feature called "The Inven tor's Wife." will he given. Carlvle Blackwell will be seen in a two reel Kalem, "The Detective's Sister." and Pathe's Weekly will show real fight ing scenes along the Mexican coast.

PICTURELAND The program at Pictureland every day during the coming week shines brilliantly with stars, headed by such prominent vorites as, Mabel Nor mand, Charles Chiplin, Warren Ker rigan, Courtenay Foote, Lillian Gish, James Kirkwood, Blanch Sweet, Francis Ford, Grace Cunnard, Winifred Greenwood, Norma Phillips, Augustus Carney, Leah Baird, Bob Leonard, Sydney Ayres, Edwin August and others. Monday's leading attractions include, a two reel Domino feature, 'Out of the Night;" a Keystone com edy, "When Villains Meet," and Her bert Rawilnson and Cleo Madison in "Dangers of the Veldt," a two reel 101 Bison wild animal special. Tuesday's Important special in a three reel Victor feature, called "The Bolted Door," featuring Warren Kerrigan In the leading role of this well known story. Harry Stafford, magazine writer, physician, and for several years a prominent Broadway actor, is the author of this great story adopted from the novel of the same name by George Gibbs. Garriot and Natalie marry, in order to secure money from a deceased uncle.

They imagine they do not love each other and lVe apart, but a mutual friend teaches them the true sentiments of the heart. The I role is said to particularly suit Jack Kerrigan's well recognized style and personality. A Majestic drama, "The Quicksands," featuring Courtenay Foote, recently with Vitagraph, and Lillian Gish, formerly with Biograph, and a two reel Keystone comedy. "Caught at the Cabaret," featuring Mabel Normand and Charles Chaplin in the leading roles. This program at Pictureland Tuesday is one of the best of the season, and In addition to the brilliant features the ladles will re ceive beautiful souvenirs in the afternoon.

Wednesday James Kirkwood and Blanch Sweet will be featured In a two reel Reliance feature, "Ashes of the Past." Thursday's biggest attrac tions include Norma Philips in a first run "Mutual Girl." and Augustus Car ney in Ike Makes a Monkey of Himself." Friday, Leah Baird will be featured in a two reel Imp feature, "The Sea Coast of Bohemia," and Saturday, Edwin August, in Souve e. 1 SCHUYLKILL AVE. Wednesday's special is Lubin's six reel feature, "The Lion and the Mouse," one of the most brilliant of all the General Film releases with Ethel Clayton in the role of Shirley Rossmore.

Charles Kleine. the author wrote "The Music Master" and "The Third Degree," and his "Lion and the Mouse" is even greater on the screen than in the original book form. PALACE Manager Deputy announces another long list of feature attractions with all star casts for every day In the coming week, beginning Monday a four reel RamO drama, "Through Dante's Flames," with Stuart Holmes in a dual role. Though the title may suggest it, this is not an ancient story of Dante but a modern story of metropolitan life today. Cither reels at the Palace Monday include a two reel Broncho, "The Relic," a story of the stage, featuring Walter Belasco, in the leading role.

A howling Keystone comedy, "Across the Hall," and a Rex drama, "The Old Locket," complete the big program. Tuesday's attractions include a four reel sensational feature, "The Red Club;" a two reel picturesque feature, "In the Days of the another funny Keystone, "Cruel, Cruel Love," with Keystone's comedy players, headed by Mabel Normand, and a three reel Oaumont special, "Her Guilty Secret." For Wednesday Manager Deputy calls special attention to the popular singing pictures, which are always an added attraction at shows at the Palace. Among the songs to be shown this week are "Good Bye, Summer," "You Were Made for Me," "Whistle It" and "Bobbin' Up and Down." Other reels Wednesday include a special feaurte, "Tracked Across the Desert;" a two reel Kay Bee, "The Gringo;" Ethel Grandln in a two reel Victor. "Love's Victory," and the "Animated Weekly." GRAND "The House of Bondage," another one of the much discussed white slave topics, will be the big added attraction at the Grand Theatre for three days, beginning today. The feature is a six reel sensational pnotonrama never seen in this city before and one that had sensational runs on Broadway, New York, at the Bijou Theatre, and in Brooklyn at the Royal and Majestic Theatres, where the pictures played to capacity.

The feature is a film adaptation of Reginald Wright Kauffman's book that aroused the entire world and one that sold perhaps faster than any novel published last season. The story is so well known that a mere mention of the in cidents will make one want to see the film production at the Grand this week. According to precedent, the officers of the society are those who will be seniors during their term of office, which will begin with the opening of the school year next September.

Warren E. Palm was elected president; Harry E. Williams, vice president, and Robert Lerch. secretary and treasurer Warren Palm is a graduate of Mount Penn High School, and is now completing his junior years in the Reading school.
