A compromise plan for flood control on Salt creek has been adopted by the state and Cook county, it was announced last week by Daniel Ryan, president of the county noard.

Potn the Illinois Division of Waterways and the Cook County Forest Preserve district gave ground on methods to be employed in the 1.2 million dollar program In the west suburban sector of Salt creek, it was reported. In addition, the state agreed to give consideration In the overall program to a county proposal to construct a dam to impound flood waters In sse forest In Elk Grove township in northwest Cook county. The General Assembly appropriated 5.2 million dot lai's for the'big project. Agreement on the modified plan was reached nfter meetings between officials of the forest preserve district and the state division of wa terways. They got together at the urging of the Northeastern Illinois Metropolitan A a Planning commission.

'Aim of the writing k- shop is to develop a strong "feel" (not formula) for dramatic structure, to examine various theatrical forms in relation, to the playwright's idea, and to pose and stylistic problems for the workshop writer to solve. THE INSTRUCTOR for the writing workshop is Richard Mansfield of Chicago, a Ford Foundation Fellow i 1959 I960 studying playwri- ting under John Gassner at the Yale School of Drama. His writing credits have appeared in New York City, as well as on many local stations a Chicago's educational stations. Mansfield is a graduate of Northwestern University and Harvard Law School and now divides his time between practising law a writing plays. The workshop writers i 1 be able to have their plays produced by Village Theatre, if they wish.
