The waiting maiden crossed the ocean in search of her recreant lover, but she, too, soon found congenial companionship and became Mrs.

Saturday evening last, becoming tired of city life, dressed in a hunt ing suit, and, taking his rifle, started he said for the woods. He walked nine miles, and in a dense forest where wild cats and wolves are quite plentiful, rigged out a camp in which he passed four nights. He was unaware of the fact that such animals were to be found in that section, and says that during the nights he could hear "dogs" bark- inff. discovery resulted from the story of a farmer that a boy answering the description of the lost one was camped three miles from his farm. 11 Al weuKness easily cured Dy Dr Miles' Serve Plasters.

dm (Editor Evening Times I notice that "Snap-Shot" and an "Unfortunate Tax-Payer" have gotten pretty badly tangled up in their figures endeavoring to petty- fog the public as to the truth of a cost of a Superior court in Winnebago County. The Superior court should not be located at Neenah-Meriasha at all, but at Oshkosh, the county We all know that the cost of a jury in Circuit court is an enormous bill of expense to the tax payers; the cost of a Circuit court jury for 60 days is more than 36 by $2 00 by 60 (days) $4,320.00. We all know that in Winnebago county the biannual tefms of the jurv calendar average from 70 to 90 cases. Sometimes the number may fall lower but it has run to over two hundr per term. All jury cases' are not tried by a jury however but a considerable number at every term are turned over to the court to be tried without the aid of a jury, sav ing the county the entire jury fees, or over $72 00 per diem.

In comparison with the surround' ing counties, Winnebago county's jury cases ate very numerous; Fond du Lac, about 20; Green Lake 5 to 10; Outagamie 25 to 30; Marathon 30 to 40; Oconto 15 to 25; Wood 10 to 15; showing that we should have at least four jury terms for Winne bago county, or that Winnebago county is big enough to make an entire circuit out of alone. Now the taxpayers can face that, as an alternative, two counties (Green Lake and Calumet) must be released from paying a portion of Judgu Burnell's salary, $3,600.00 per annum and a new Circuit, composed of Winnebago county, to be taxed $3,600.00 for Judge Burnell's salary and two addititonal jury tefm raust be kept in session from four to six months in order to keep abreast with the volume of business or your court facilities must prove inadequate to the needs of those you tax to provide courts to handle their business Owing to a lack of space and pressure of other matters, to dav, the balance of this communication is unavoidably laid over till to morrow. "I'm not the man to yield weakly or without a struggle; declared Writely as he walked the floor, intertwining hia long fingers or running them nervously through his still longer hair. "I have written poems, essays, plays, criticisms and stories.

I have ranged in my work from the most profound metaphysics to the veriest rough and tumble humor of the day. Disposing of political problems, removing the clouds of mysticism, accounting by natural laws, for what has been regarded as supernatural, producing the most beautiful conceits in the realms of romance, writing under the inspiration of propitious muses and showing myself the incarnation of true wit, I have done a vast labor, for the good of humanity and have nothing to show for it but dusty piles of unaccepted manuscript. No wonder that ambition is crushed and that the fruits of my endeavor seem as the apples of Sodom." "Brace up, old man," advised his friend Lettergo. "You are not the first genius to suffer the pangs of the unappreciated. Keep plugging away with a stiff upper lip.

I Advertising Aphorisms. r-Anything worth selling is worth advertising; anything worth advertising is worth advertising well, That advertiser' who has at; able competitor may sometimes be considered fortunate; it may bring out the best business methods he possesses. If your food doejsn't agree with you will you give up eating as! a foolish practice? Yet some men stop their advertising because their ads do not pay, when perhaps all they need is a change of advertising diet. Merchants' Best Friends. Be it remembered that newspapers are the merchants' tried ahd true mediums for xadvertising.

Use them largely if not exclusively. Programmes, circulars, novelty and house "schemes" are seldom if ever of any value as advertising media. The original "pay-lead" of the ad vertising mine lies in the "veins" of the newspaper--country as well as city.
