Hockey Players Must Receive Training Cards With the professional hockey season coming along soon, there are many Ottawa and district players on the strength of teams in the National Hockey League and minor loops who may be wondering as to their status under national registration. It was learned from the Department of National War Services that all athletes from 19 to 43 years are affected by the requirement of military training as any others, regardless of contracts. Official Rnling. However, it is ruled that if hockey players and others have taken training with N.P.A.M. units and the period of training is considered by the Department of National Defence as equivalent to the 30 days which those to be called will take, then the athletes will not be called up until after the 1940-1941 season Is over.

The Department of National Defence must certify as to the previous training being sufficient, to each divisional registrar. The registrar then will skip calling up those mentioned. Frank Boucher, New York Rangers' coach; Bill Cowley, star forward of Boston Bruins; Ebbie Goodfellow, veteran' defence man of Detroit Red Wngs, and Kenny Kllrea, also of the Red Wings, are among the Ottawa players con cerned. Boucher and Cowley, with Des Smith, Canadiens, were amongst those who trained at Petawawa camp recently. In addition to those who play for United States teams, there are scores of others connected with Canadian teams.
