(Ambrose Vince photo) Worldwide Church of God convenes for observance By RUTH VINCE Pocono Record Reporter MOUNT POCONO Approximately 4,000 members of the Worldwide Church of God gathered Monday at the con. vention site in Mount Pocono for a one-day observance of the Feast of Pentecost. The Feast of Pentecost is celebrated the seventh Sunday after Easter because on that day the Apostles went to a a a i thousands.

This is the first year this feast has been observed at the Mount Pocono site. Members I a a a Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and the District of Columbia heard a sermon by Ken Westby of the District of Columbia. Garner Ted Armstrong, son of the founder of the church, also spoke to the group at the morning session. Services were held from 10 a.m. to noon and from 3 to 5 p.m.

Between services several families enjoyed picnic lunches at the convention site. Others availed themselves of nearby restaurants. Mr." and Mrs. Jim Parlett and Mrs. Barbara Tuder and families of Baltimore, said in previous years they have attended the Feast of the Tabernacles here in the Poconos but this year they will be attending at Jekyll Island, Ga.

P.M. student granted NROTC MOUNT POCONO John Beehler, a senior at Pocono Mountain High School, has recently been granted a four- year Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) scholarship to the Pennsylvania State University, University Park. Throughout high school, Beehler has been a member of the "Academically Able Honors Program." He also participated in the marching band, concert band, wind ensemble, stage band, chorus, chorus ensemble and in the school musical. I participated in junior varsity and YMCA basketball, varsity football and varsity baseball, where he was the captain and leading hitter during his senior year. His other activities include student council representative, vice president of Rubber Duck Company III and member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
