It 4i CIIJax V'i-1 Penn Rips Dartmouth En Second Half, 20-5 Philadelphia, Oct. 7 (U.R). Trailing by six points early in the second period, Penn tied the score on a 59-yard run with an intercepted pass by A. S. Minisi late in the same period, then pushed across another touchdown in the third period and still another in the final quarter to defeat Dartmouth, 20-6, today before 40,000 at Franklin Field.

Army Batters Brown Bear Army fired a nine-touchdown barrage yesterday to smother Brown, 59-7, at Michie Stadium. West Point, before about 3,500 customers. The power-laden Cadets used at least three full teams in running up the huge score. FIRST PERIOD Brown's Tiedemann reeled off 17 yards and Williams 13 to reach Army's 43, but the Cadets held and Tiedemann booted out on the 21. Minor skirted end for 24, then carried to the Brown 42, where Kenna booted a seven-yard punt.

Brown kicked back to the 33, and Kenna faked a pass and skirted end for 23. Hall broke over tackle for 40 yards and a touchdown, but Hall missed the placement. After Fuson recovered a fumble on Browns' 15, but Brown took the ball on downs on the 10. The Bruins punted out and Army -Vr Not in the Head, Houglas! eov lih In laker Field Clash By Hy Turkin Aiming for their second straight victory of the young season, Columbia's football team tangled with once beaten Syracuse before about 12,000 at Baker Field yesterday. The upstaters were back in the intercollegiate grid picture after a layoff of one season. FIRST PERIOD Penn, after kicking off and checking- Dartmouth's running plays, got in threatening position as Lawless intercepted a pass on the Dartmouth 45 and ran it back to the 30. The" Quakers' attack ended when Sica fumbled on the Dartmouth 9 after an 8-yard gain, and Dartmouth Penn got in scoring position again when Minisi skirted his left end to the Dartmouth 15. The drive was checked after advancing to the Dartmouth 8 when Minisi tried to pass and the ball was intercepted by Fusilli, Dartmouth guard, and carried to the Dartmouth 26.

Dartmouth was unable to make headway. The Quakers started another offensive from midfield, but penalties drove them back to their own 85, from where they punted to the Dartmouth 43 as the quarter ended. Score: Penn 0, Dartmouth 0. Mostly due to navy personnel on the roster, the '44 Marquette eleven boasts wider geographical distribution than any grid combination in Hill top history- Youths from 11 states are wear ing the Marquette blue and gold this Fall.

They come from Col orado, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Xew Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. There is the usual heavy Mil waukee representation on the squad. Twenty boys from the city and its immediate suburbs are included on coach Tom E. Stidham's roster. Meyer of TCU Won 10 Letters Fort Worth, Tex.

Not many athletes in TCU's history have hung up a better competitive record than Coach Leo R. (Dutch) Meyer. Dutch was a freshman in '17 and graduated in "22, with time out to serve as second lieutenant in World War I. TCU was a member of the old Texas Interscholastic Athletic Association then, and freshmen were eligible for varsity competition. Meyer lettered four times as a pitcher in baseball, four times as a basketball guard, and twice as an end in football.

The Cadets moved right back for another as Kenna passed to Hall for 48 yards, and followed with one to Hall. Score: Army 32, Brown 7. THIRD PERIOD After forcing Bown to kick from its 27, Davis took the punt on his 37, reversed the field, and raced 63 yards to a touchdown. Walter House kicked the extra point. Army moved 42 yards in four plays to another touchdown, with Lombardo hitting Davis with a 2-yard pass lor the score. Army got the ball on Brown's 48 when a Bruin lateral went astray and Chabot of Army fell on the bounding ball.

House plaeekicked the extra point. Just as the period ended Kenna duplicated Davis' feat, taking a punt on his 37 and going 63 yards for a touchdown. Hall missed the placekick. Score: Army 52, Brown 7. FOURTH PERIOD Army's third-stringers took over after Kenna intercepted a pass on his 35 and ran it back to midfield.

Lockard went 14 yards around end, Sauer hitting Halli-gan with a 26-yard pass to the 3, and then Sauer going over for the touchdown. Sauer also booted the extra point and Army led 59-7. There was more scoring in the period, although Army threatened again. Final score: Array 59, Brown 7. Football for All New Orleans.

Tulane's football program overlooks no student who wants to play. The number of students at Tulane who applied for football equipment this Fall totaled A12. The Lions won, 26-2. FIRST PERIOD Stout took Syracuse's kickoff at the goal line and ran it back to the 20, where he fumbled, but Ward recovered for the Lions. Morgan quick kicked past midfield on second down.

After an exchange of kicks, Dolan's end sweeps and Buchsbaum's bucks advanced the ball to the Columbia 20. The Lions braced to regain the ball on downs. Hall lost five yards on Columbia's first rush. Two charges lost a yard, but Stout then bulleted an angled pass to Gilbert, and the captain fell over for the final yard. Morgan's placement was true. For the next 10 minutes, neither team could get a first down.

With five minutes left, Gilbert recovered a Syracuse fumble at midfield. Stout pitched and Morgan plunged to fire the Lions to four first downs, the last on the 2. Three plays later. Stout lined a six-yard pass to Gilbert, who carried it one yard over the goal line, ilorgan's kick was wide. Score: Lions 20, Syracuse 2.

THIRD PERIOD Early in the period, Dolan quick-kicked for a net gain of 60 yards. Hunter broke through for 22 and eight-yard gains, but the Lions had to kick. Two plays after receiving the return kick, Morgan quick-kicked for a net gain of 73 yards, the ball falling dead on the Orange one. The Lions charged back to the 19, a Stout-Gilbert forward gained 11, but Hall dropped the lateral from Gilbert and Seiter recovered for Syracuse to stop the touchdown drive. Baysinger tried to pitch Syracuse out of trouble, but missed his 10th straight pass.

Finally he pitched to Sullivan for a gain of 26 yards as the period ended. Score: Lions 20, Syracuse 2. for the Blue touchdowns. John Tully, who took Al Dek-debrun's long pass in the first, pass in the first, scored the lone Cornell marker. Dekdebrun was tackled for a safety by Paul just before the game ended.

THIRD PERIOD Yale clicked off 64 yards to go in front after taking the kickoff with Penn finally crashing over from the 3.

Booe, the Eli place kicker specialist, booted the extra point. The spearhead of the Blue sortie was pony-back Barksdale but a 10-yard slant pass, Loh to Walker, who was nabbed on the 5, proved a clinches. Running the kick after the score 23 yards to its 28, Cornell rallied behind Dekdebrun to gallop to Yale's 32. but Loh Intercepted a pass on the 24 to.
