Atwuod of Greenfield, Mass. This horse was bred In New Orleans, and his present owner has refused 118,000 for him. Three fin running horsea, by Im ported "lalrowlne," the property of W. II. Cheney, of Belmont, were also on exhibition, with many other animals of leaser note.

In the cattle department which la well atodted, we could not help Dotlce-Ing a floe herd of devons, owned by E. II. Ilyda cf 8uflTjrd, several of whom have taken, as I am informed, the first prlaea wherever they have been exhibited. Mr. Hyde challenges the United Elates and Canada to produce their equal.

Winthrop W. Cheney, Esq of Belmont, also has on exhibition a lot of 20 Dutch Holskln cattle, some of which are valued as high aa 15000. Among these latter is a bull wetghlng 2 300, which took the N. E. Society's prize medal last year.

Of the other classes I will endeavor to speak at length In my letter to you to morrow, they being for want of time omitted to day. The meeting ot the Societies and Judges at the President's quartern on the grounds to-day have been postponed till to morrow, together with the Introductory addresses of the Presidents of the two Societies. The exhibition of stock and promiscuous driving on the race course during the day has shown that New Eng'and can boat of sone of the finest looking and fastest antmals In the country. The attendance Is large.every hotel and private houe being literally "jam full," visitors beFng "thicker than three in a bed." The number of entries is very large, and although much of the stock and articles mtered have not jet arrived, there Is a very good display at the grounds.
