TEN, 195005 Robert D. Deenas ef we to Alice E. Lipped, N. of MEMBER NAN NADER Aerocietion a Founded 1605 MONTANA PRESS Ravaili Republican SCONCE A BANNER BOB CHAMLY This writer is in receipt of a letter from a gentleman in Ft. Collins, who was thinking about moving to the Bitter Root.

After taking the paper for several months, he changed his mind. "A man going out on your roads in anything less than a Sherman tank would have to be in a suicidal mood," the man commented in regard to Ravalli County's twin problem of highway accidents and drinking drivers. "If your juries would send some of these creeps to Deer Lodge for a period of enforced meditation, it would at least remove them from the highways," he adds. "I do not care to be killed by some moron with an over-supply of blood in his alcohol system." The Ravalli County commissioners, if their first week of operations in 1973 is any indication, have taken steps to improve their day-to-day operations. The board plans to keep a daily journal and have a stenographer sit in on important discussions and hearings.

It's a good idea not necessarily the entire answer to an increasing work load at the commissioner level but at least a step in the right direction. The valley mourns Ron Bibler of Darby, who did much more than just serve as manager of one of his community's sawmills. Ron was active in many phases of community life. He enjoyed sports and recreation activities all of his life, was active in church and fraternal organizations. He was a town councilman and longtime fireman and a genuine nice guy.

The suggestion: Invest that $260,000 or so that the county will receive in federal funds every year the end of five years, construct a new courthouse.

The present structure, erected in 1898, is a sound building in some respects but a losing proposition from a standpoint of maintenance. It's also a bit of a firetrap. The jail, built a year or two later, no longer meets federal or state standards. The annex should have been condemned years ago. It's possible all three buildings will last another 10 or 15 years.

We wouldn't bet on it, however. appears to be the sensible answer, one that would replace a heavy burden on the taxpayers. The five- year federal deal will provide at least $1.3 million and possibly more. That's enough to pay for facilities that will be sorely needed in just a few years. ENGAGED Mr. and Mrs. J. Lusk of Hamilton have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Roxie Ann, to Ted Hartman, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Jesse Hartman of Hamilton. The wedding rite is planned for Jan. 27 at the Church of Christ in Hamilton. Miss Lusk graduated from Hamilton High School in 1971 and from Missoula Technical Center in 1972. She is currently employed at a savings and loan firm in Missoula.

Hartman also graduated from HHS in 1971 and from Missoula Technical Center in 1972. He is employed at a lumber manufacturing plant in Missoula. No-Fault Law To Be Talked At Mon. Meet No-fault auto insurance will be discussed at the Senior Citizens Association meeting Monday afternoon by Hamilton insurance man, George Rummel. This plan, in effect in several states and being considered by others, reduces the litigation that often delays payment of claims for months.

Massachusetts was the first state to establish no-fault insurance, three years ago. Its experience has indicated that insurance premiums may be reduced as much as 50 percent when no-fault insurance is in effect. The Senior Citizens meeting Monday is set for 2 p.m. at the Hamilton library clubrooms. Anyone interested in hearing a discussion of no-fault insurance is invited to attend the meeting.

Visitors, and especially recent retirees who have moved to this area, are always welcome, according to president Elizabeth Maclay. Refreshments will be served.
