The Pennsylvania railroad company will isBue Fourth of July excursion tickets to Philadelphia and return from tbla city, and all stations in the county, good on any taain on July 3, 4, ana and to return until July 7, inclusive, at $2 50; children not twelve years of age, half price.

This is a decidedly cheap excursion, and will no doubt be tatftn advantage of by many of our citizens. Notice to Taxpayers. There will positively be no abatement on city and water taxes after Monday, July 2d. SCATTERED POINTS. Glorious growing weather.

This is the last day of June. Corn will soon be ready to tassel. The great raid on the baas will soon commence. Tire preserving season has been rainy inaugurated. High heeled shoes are again being worn by our fashionably dressed females.

Our country exchauges are makicg the announcement paper next Oar markets were well attended to day. In another column our weekly quotations will be found. Many of our citizens will avail them selves of the cheap excursion rates to Philadelphia next week. Early KiBzer have sold property in the last three weeks to the amount of $10,150. Arrangements are being made for a fantastic parade on the Fourth of July by the young men of West Harrisburg. As the Fourth of July is a legal holi day those who have business with the banks would do well to remember that they will be closed on that day. The Hope fire company requests all members who intend going on the Fourth of July excursion, to report at the hose house by Monday evening. Garden stuff now in its prime for table consumption.

Peas, beans, radishes, onions, lettuce, asparagus, are abundant. New potatoes, of home growth in a few days. A dispatch from PittsDurg states that Messrs. Butler and M'Conaughy, rail road temperance workers, of that city, will be here and attend the railroad temperance meeting in the court house, to morrow nigut. The Secretary of the Odd Fellows' Life Insurance Company will be at his office in Bergner's building this even ins and the evening of Tuesday, the 3d of July, to receive assessment due upon the death of S.

B. Steinmetz. Personal. General Anderson, of Louisiana Returning Board fame, passed though the city, eastward bound, yesterday, on the Pacific exprees. Passed Through.

The Editorial association of New Jersey passed eastward over the Pennsylvania railroad this morning at 9.40 en route for their homes. The Crop3. The farmers generally report a good prospect for large crops this season. In some sections the hay has been damaged somewhat by the recent rains, but the crop is reported as being as large as uaual. Large Funeral.

The funeral of Dr. A. D. Rutherford took place at half past ten o'clock this morning from the real denca nf his mother, ou Front street below Market, and was largely attend ed by his relatives and friends. Mayor's Court.

The array at the Major's levee this morning was rather slim, only one tramp and two iaebriates puttiDg in an appearauce. The former and oue or the latter were discharged while the other wa recommitted for ten dajB. Improvements. Severil new frame buildings are btiDg erected on Reily street near Ridge avenue. Hoa Cholera We are informed that the bog cnolera has made its appearance In the vicinity of Camp Hill, Cumberland county, and for some days past a number of fine porkers have died from its attacks. Addresses were made by a number who had signed the pledge and by Rev. O. H. Miller, which were listened to with marked attention. A number of new signatures were obtained to the pledge.

The prayer meetiugs at the Y. M. C. A. rooms from half past nine to ten o'clock was largely attended This evening tbe meeting will be held at the court house.

Tne noonday prayer meetings are continued daily from twelve to one o'clock at the rooms of the Y. M. C. A. The railroaders meeting will be held to morrow evening at eight o'clock.

The public is cordially invited to attend all the meetings. Haesler's grand combination of military bands will render a monster musical melange, entitled "Bunker Hill," with artillery accompaniment, eclipsing in Its thrilling and patriotic effect anything of a similar character ever fresented to the public, also grand se ections from Verdi's opera of "I'rova ore," with tbe "Anvil Chorus," balloon ascensions, recitals on the mammoth Roosevelt organ and the dedication of the magnificent marble temperance fountain are among tbe many attractions on the Exhibition grounds. As this excursion is in the interest of Grace church buildinsr fund, which again reverts to our citizecs by giving work to our it should have the preference. City Treasurer Sheesley and his clerk, B. F. Peters, are at the present time the busiest men In the city, tbey having their hands full in receiving the city and water tax from our property owners who are anxious to avail themselves of the abatement of five percent.

The Treasurer's office presented a lively appearance to day. Forestalling the Markets. This morning Michael M'Cullough and Musser Shank were arrested by Officer Best, of the police force, cbrged with forestalling the markets. They were purchasing raspberries from the market people and reselling them. After a hearing befoie the Mayor they were discharged upon each paying a fine of three dollars.

Proclamation by the Mayor. His Honor Mayor Patterson has issued his proclamation prohibiting the firing off of guns, pistols and other firearms within the city limits at any time, except on military occasions. The police have been instructed to arrest every person who violates the provisions of tbe ordinance in relation to this matter, which was passed December 11, 1860 As fire crackers and fireworks will be allowed to be used in this city on tbe coming Fourth our citizens would do well to show their patriotism, if tbey must do so, by the use of them, and let guns, pistols, alone.
