8. Ferguson, F. D. Saltzman. Commander Adjutant QUARTER SESSIONS ir 0PSS THIS MOKXIXG AT TEN Two Courts Will Be in Full Blast This Week.

The June term of quarter sessions began this morning at ten o'clock. Cases were tried in both rooms. Judge Simonton presiding in No. 1, and Judge McPherson in No. 2.

In the latter Russell Armor, of the Prothonotary's office, acted as clerk of court. Both juries were empanelled in No. 1, the first one beirg sent into No. 2 This method of conducting quarter ion will greatly aid in the prompt disposal of cases, of which District Attorney Detweiler has 109 down on the list. All of the grand jary answered Fm thonotary Melick's call but two, Harry E.

Jenkins and William Long, both of this city. William E. Leaker, of Upper Pax ton township, was chosen foreman. The usual returns of the city police, constables and county officers were received. During the receiving of the returns the bands of the Pawnee Bill procession were heard clashing up Market street, causing a general exodus among the spectators on the benches.

There were just two colored people left in the court room. James Dougherty, of Middletown was the only one oi the petit jurors who failed to respond to his name. He was reported dead by Mr. Melick. In No.

262. March term. Common Pleas, William M. Hain, attorney, vs. Henry Henry Shoop, the Court ordered a stay of execution until the plaintiff file In court, for the use of the defendant, a release executed by Mrs.

An alias subpoena in divorce was issued in the esse of Elizabeth Williams, by her next friend Henry Vittier, va. Edward F. Williams. John S. Deckard was relieved of the costs in a case of assault and battery, tried at the last Quarter Sessions, under the insolvent law.

The Court appointed Martin Good, John L. Ulrich and Christian Swartz, of Lower Swatara township, reviewers for the lay ing out of a road in Dtrry township, from Henry rye land, in uonewago townsnip, to the lands of Christian Herr, in Derry township. Mr. Backenstoe made the motion. The Court approved the bond of Wm.

S. Shade, collector of taxes for Reed township. A subpoena in divorce was istued in the case of Mrs. Minnie M. Moyer.by her next friend and mother Mrs.

Agnes Fox, vs. Henry B. Moyer. Mr. Detweiler is counsel for libellant.

A Bubfoeaa was made, returnable at the next term of court, to Mary S. Chrisman (Madame her mxt friend Joseph C. Smith, vs. Francis L. Chrisman.

D. C. Herr and Weiss Gilbert are attorneys for the plaintiff. A a alias order to make proclamation in divorce in Annie Marker, by her next friend. Wm.

il. Marker, was granted by the Court on the asking of Mr. Brandt. D. Reichert.

Walker Trulliager and Martin Fceser were appointed viewers for the erection of a bridge over Beaver Creek, Wefct Hanover and Lower Paxton township, on petition of Messrs. Care Seitz. Wil'iam Wise and William Riser, two yc nog boys 14 and 19 years old, pleaded guilty to stealing cosl from the Pennsylvania Railroad. Detective Abe Roat made the charge Young Wise will be sent to the House of Refuge and to the Huntingdon Reformatory. Mr.

Wickersham asked the Court Xi cot firm nisi the order to viewers to view the site of a proposed bridge over the Pennsylvania Canal at Chiques street, Steelton, which was done. Mr. Chamberlain rrofE examined. The defendants were charged with breaking into Goods' falling mi'l below Highspire. Edward Dougherty, charged as sault and hutery, was the first cas' cal.ecl up in Ho. 2 this afternoon.

Mr. JTii rt rcttnted the Commonwealth and Mr. defended. The jary sid guilty. Fuitou was tried on two charges of larceny.

Mr. Fox represented the Commonwealth and Mr. Carter defended. Henry B. McCormick was admitted to practice at the Diuphin county bar on motion oi Mr.

Oilbert. Mr. McCormick was a law student in the offices of Weiss Gilbert, and passed a highly creditable examination. He was warmly con gratulated by his fellow lawyers after Protbonotary Melick bad administered the oath. The Court granted a charter to the Ry sor Cemetery Association of Suiqaehanna township.

The incorporators are Jobn 11. Hheesely, Samuel K. Ubeesley. sasan Brightbill, John Good and Oscar Good. Thi directors for the first year are the same as the incorporators.

The Arnold burglary cass went to the ury at 2:30. Robert JjOdk ana a men liryan pieaued guilty to burglary. Mr. Chamberlin asked the Court for clemency. Long was sen tenced to the Penitentiary lor two years and Bryau for one, John An del son, colored, pleaded guilty of false pretense.

He had collected money various persons by telling a tale that a certain Mrs Lee wis dead, which wr.sa't the fact. He had been in jail since March 19 h. Anderson will stay in jil for three months longer. Eli Newman and Lewis Wilson, both colored lads, pleaded guilty to stealing fifteen eggs from farmer Hershcy who lives near Hummelstown, when the latter was at market a month or two ago, at ihe Broad strc et buildiDg. Three zn of tbo eggs were recovered.

Both boys will serve three months in jiil commencing with April 3d. The Arnold jury brought in a ver lict of not guilty at 2 :45. Joseph Ltrch pleaded guilty cf larceny. The Court sentenced him to three months in jiil. Mr.

Samuel Poorman and Mrs. Catharine lialsbaiieU Called. Mr. Samuel Poorman died at Highspire on Saturday, in his 67tn year, after an illness of six months. He is survived by five children, Elward of Highspire; Warren of San Francisco Mrs.

J. R. Gore, of Royalton; Joseph O. of the First National Bank, and William assistant yard master, Pennsylvania railroad, this city. Deceased wks a member and trustee of the U.

This aged lady, who on Decoration Day reached her 85lh year, passed at midnight, at her home in Hummelstown, from Hints due to heart trouble and old age. She belonged to one cf the oldest famillest of Dauphin county and was the widow of the late John Bal6 baugh. Four sons and one daughter, Mrs. George H. Grove, Hummelstown, survive.
