Each line lists an individual fund followed by the price for which a share could be sold, the price for. which a share could be bought, and the change in the selling price from the previous trading day. Continued from A1 Stocks at 2 p.m. NEW YORK (API Stocks moved lower this afternoon as investors took gains on four straight winning sessions.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid as concerns about IBM's profit margins negated encouraging earnings news. At 2 p.m. on Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 66.84 at 5,553.18. In the last four sessions, the barometer of big U.S. companies had erased two-thirds of its recent 200-point slide, which was caused by interest rate and inflation worries amid a series of surprisingly strong economic reports.

Declining issues outnumbered advancers by about 7 to 5 on the New York Stock Exchange, where volume was heavy at 314.18 million shares, slightly faster than Tuesday's pace. The church's teachings and obeying his parents, "were important to him personally," Jensen said. "I observed this." When Tony was sick, "he called for us every day or two" to pray, his grandfather said. "In Tony's case, in every instance I'm aware of, it was Tony's decision." Jensen, Loyd Hays and Vernon Flandermeyer are the lay elders who lead the Brownsville congregation of the Church of the First Born, Jensen said.

Flandermeyer and his wife, Cynthia, each testified that they had seen Tony often in October 1994 and he seemed to be generally ill but well cared for. Mrs. Flandermeyer said the boy had never complained of pain but had mentioned once that he had vomited. "The last couple of days, he wasn't as perky," she said. "I'd ask how he was and (Christina) would say, 'He says he's better The Hayses were aware that Oregon law allows spiritual treatment for illnesses in some circumstances, Castleton said.

The jury saw an 8-by-10 school photo of Tony but not three photos taken at his autopsy. Judge Daniel Murphy ruled that prosecutor Reed Dinsmore had not laid a proper foundation of testimony to admit them. The trial continued today. Jensen said the boy was "less lively" than he'd been earlier, but seemed to rebound when the family returned to Brownsville in mid-October. Defense attorney Jim Egan asked Jensen to describe the tenets of the church governing medical help.

Church members can wear eyeglasses and hearing aids because they correct a mechanical problem, Jensen said. They can choose to be treated for more serious ills but believe their souls could be in jeopardy as a result. Hays was not yet a church member, but he had been raised in NEW YORK (AP) Thursday's selected mutual funds. PORTLAND (AP) A former Quaker Foods executive who headed marketing for brands such as Gatorade and Snapple has been named chief executive officer of Wholesome Hearty Foods maker of the meatless Gardenburger. Lyle Hubbard, 45, of Chicago, also ran highly successful marketing campaigns for Quaker rice cakes. "He really saved rice 'cakes," said Richard C. Dietz, Wholesome Hearty's chief financial officer.

"He took it from like $20 million in sales to $200 million or $300 million." Wholesome Hearty has not had a permanent leader in recent months, when it has faced a series of problems. Founder Paul Wenner has stepped down as CEO but remains senior chairman. Its acquisition of a California company key to producing the meatless GardenDog was stalled by a lawsuit by a former employee, and the company was seeking ways to expand the retail segment of its business. Wholesome Hearty also has been battling an image as an offbeat startup four years after its initial public stock offering. Revenues reached $35.8 million last year but stock had slipped below $10 a share over the last five months after trading as high as $14.50 a share last spring.

Hubbard's appointment was announced after the stock market closed on Tuesday. At midday today, Wholesome Hearty traded at $8.75, up 12.5 cents.
