ORGANIC WEAKNESS Immediately cured, and lull vigor restored. This distressing affection which renders life miserable aid marriage impossible is the penalty paid by the victims of improper indulgence. Young persons are too apt toe mmit excesses from not being aware of the dreadful consequences that may ensue. Now, who that understands the subject, will pretend to deny that the power of procreation is lost soonor by those falling into improper habits than by the prudent. Besides being deprived the pleasures of healthy offspring, the nioit serious and destructive symptoms to both body and mind arise.

The system becomes deranged, the physical and mental functions weakened, loss of procreative power, nervous irritability, dyspepsia, palpitation of tho heart, indigestion, constitutional debility, a wasting of the frame, cough, consumption, decay and death. The fearful effeots on the mind much to be dread ea loss of memory, confusion of ideas, depression of spirits, evil forebodings, aversion to society, self distrust, love of solitude, timidity, Ac, are some of the evils produced. YOUNG MEN Who have injured themselves by a oertain practice indulged in when alone, a habit frequently learned from evil companions, or at school, the effects of which are nightly felt, oven when asleep, and if not oured renders marriage impossible, ana destroys both mind and body, should apply immediately. Indeed, without these, the journey through life beoemes a weary pilgrimage; the prospect hourly darkens to the view: the mind becomes shadowed with despair and filled with the melancholy reflection that the happiness of another becomes blighted with our own. DISEASE OF IMPRUDENCE. When the misguided and Imprudent (votary of leasure finds he has imbibed the seeds of this paln ul disease, it too often happens that an ill imed sense of shame or the dread of discovery deters him from applying to those who from education and re ipeoiaDiiuy, can aione Deinena mm. tie tans into the hands of ignorant and designing pretenders.

OXYGENIZED AIR. DBS. ALTON (formerly of Philadelphia) Office Removed to Ho. 3, North Front Street, Harrisbufg, Where they will attend to the treatment of ALL CHRONIC DISEASES BY INHALATION OF OXYGENIZED AIR, Which has been used with marked success in over GO, OOO A S. THIS remedial agent is entirely different in its composition and effects from all other systems of treatment ever before used for tho cure of Patients do not need to experiment with this treatment for montbs to learn whether they are being benefited, but the results are immediate, the OXYGEN being breathed directly into the Lungs and thence earned at onoe into theblood.

purifying and invigorating every part of the system, and often giving the patient instant relief from the most distressing symptoms. Dieeases of the Throat, Air Passages, and Lungs, cannot be cured by pouring medicine into the stomach, because medicines introduced into the system in this manner never reach the lungs effectively, but do injury rather than good. All these diseases can be cured promptly and effectively by the use of OXYGENIZED AIR, and we have no hesitation in saying that wo can cure seventy five per cent, of Throat and Lung Liseases wbich are incurable by any and all other methods of treatment. This assertion is made on the authority of over 6,000 case of confirmed Con tumption which have been treated by this remedy. j.

OXYGENIZED AIR Is applicable not only in the treatment of diseases of the air passages but is effioacious in the cure of nearly every form of disease to whioh flesh is heir and has never been used in any ease of any disease without benefit. IT IS THE ONLY REMEDIAL AGENT KNOWN Which will eure Scrofula. With it hundreds of cases of this fearful disease have been oured, notwithstanding the fact that it has baffled the skill of every known system of medication and has been pronounced by the most eminent modioal writers an incurable disease. Diseases of the HEART and ARTERIES, and the NJSKVOUd SYSl'KM are at once relieved by this treatment. It has power over ASTHMA, DYSPEPSIA.

RHEUMATISM, NEURALGIA. PARALYSIS, LIVER COMPLAINTS, KIDNEY DISEASES, ULCERATIONS, SKIN DISEASES, And all affections resulting from an impure condition of theblood. Pains and Aches in all parts of the system are relieved by this remedy, it being the only true pain killer. TO LADIES suffering from any disease peculiar to their sex, we desire to say that our treatment is more efficacious for the relief of their difficulties than any otner system of treatment practised, and is frqe from the objectionable features of other system. Over 20,000 case of thisclassof diseases have been treated by this remedy and never in a tingle instance without benefit, OXYGENIZED AIR Is the great universal tonic and vitalizing element, and promptly overcomes debility whether local or general and gives vigor and etrength to every organ and (tsne in the, body.

OXYGENIZED AIR Is not a medicated vapor, nor is it nit rout oxide (laughing gas), ner yet simple oxygen all of which have been tried and found wanting, but it Oxygenized Air, a combination of Oxygen and Nitrogen unknown to Chemists an artificial AIR rioher in Oxygen than common air a combination perfectly agreeable to the patient, ahoays salutary in its effoctA, and an agent surpassing in its ranee oi application and healing power, everything heretofore known, and we use it because we know that it is more efficient and permanent in its effects than any and all other remedies combined, for tho treatment of alt classes of diseases. Buch as require medical treatment for any disease should call at our office and investigate the merit oi this system of treatment before allowing themselves to be placed under any inferior syBtem of treatment, and they can then say with others, who have experienced the benefits of our practice, it is a bliss to be free from pills and powders. Inquiries byUetter promptly replied to and information cheerfully given. Patients can be treated at thsirhomes, and at any distance. G.

M. Lewis, Esq. Scarcely ten years since, when the writer of this first entered the service of the Northern Central Railway Company, the number of locomotives numbered. some of them were very indifferent machines at that.

How the Northern Central Railway managed to perform the vast amount of labor which fell upon them, with facilities scarcely adequate to the task, during the late rebellion, when millions ot troops, convoy alter convoy ot stock trains, and an almost incalculable amount of freight in the shape of army supplies," poured, in one constant stream, daily and nightly, over a single line of track, seems to us, to this day, a mystery. but the utmost vigilance, constant watchfulness and excel lent management of the officers of the road could carry on this vast amount ot business with the facilities they then had at hand. Since the rebellion has ceased, the Northern Central Kailroad, with a spirit ot liberality unparalleled, has applied an immense amount ot its earnings to tne building ot double tracks, the procuring of first class rolling stock. of suitable shops and other necessary buildings, the erection ot station houses, together with hundreds ot minor improvements, which proves con clusively that, in the hands of its present management, the Northern Central Kailroad stands in the front rank of public improve ments in the United States, brought about, we declare emphatically, by the admirable business qualifications and sound judgment oi its present excellent management. ours respecttully, Susquehanna.

1' ashions. The sprmg style ot bats is a considerable reduction of the low bell crown. White napped and pearl colored maple hats will be general this summer, but preference will be shown to the scull hat or round Hats of thick straw, with narrow brims ana wide black bands, will be in vogue. 0 1 or full dress, the hotel winter suit of black and white necktie continues in favor. A tendency to blue and mulberry is showing itself in frock coats.

Waists are. becoming somewhat shorter; Morning cutaway coats of checks, stripes and fine figured cassimeres are still favorites. Mixed chenot and checked caEsimere are preferable for field sports, and a velvet cutaway is the thing tor a ride Boys, over six years old, continue the short sacks now worn; under that age, just as mamma pleases. rantaloons continue to tighten and lie more tuliy over the boot than last year, Walking pantaloons continue the stripe down the seams, color' according to taste. Dress pantaloons are still black, rockets are in serted across the top of the forepart instead of in the side seams, and sometimes there is a pocket behind.

Waistcoats are worn high in day. and are either collarless or with a narrow roll. In full dress a low breast is continued with a low roll collar. Black cassimere or white Marseilles is the material for the latter. The three ply standing collar is a favorite tuli dress, bhirt bosoms should be tor party dress elaborately worked, but simple in pattern.

Day shirts are plain and wide plaited. A new caprice closes the wristband on the top ot the wrist instead ot underneath, lrom the fancy that the former mode interferes less with writing. Ihe narrow necktie, with narrow ends is still a favorite. Black seldom is seen at parties. White and lemon colored kid gloves are continued for evening dress, ith drab and russet in the morning.

In boots and shoes toes are widening and heels are higher. (Janes are but little nsed They are light and are made of mounted Ma' lacca, when carried merely for ornament. J. he long nectt guard chain ot last year is disappearing. Chains are worn shorter and ace attached to a high button hole of the vest.

i Curly Hair. Some of our straight haired young lady friends, who are troubled to coax their locks into the prevailing tnzzy style, are advised to try the following receipt. It is from the Scientific American, whose authority on matters ot mechanics and chemistry is unquestioned: lake borax, two ounces: gum arabic, one drachm add hot water (not one quart stir, as soon as the ingredients are dissolved add three tablespoon' ml of strong spirits of camphor. On retiring to rest wet the hair with the above liquid, and roll it in twists ot paper, as usual. A Stumd Husband Come up With.

Here is a Parisian story to show how poorly a man comes on in any contest with womankind. The other day a Parisian and his wife went to Brussels. Ihe hrst thought ot the lady was naturally to visit the shops, and espe cially those renowned for lace. She met with some marvelous bargains as a matter of course, gave a glowing account of them to her husband, and proposed to take a quantity 'I home' with her, smuggled under her dress. The husband, like a husband, resisted.

It would be incurring too great a risk, he said, vehemently the lace would be found and confiscated he would not consent to the ar rangement. The lady agreed that she should, like a good wife, go without the lace. And so the pair started for Paris, monsieur well pleased that he had avoided this new ex travagance. At the frontier they were met with the usual demand, "Anything to de clare?" They said It was enough, and they were allowed to pass without lur ther trouble. Now here begins to show itself the folly of men.

me iaay gave ner nusDana a iook, ana the husband began to loresee the bitter re proaches of his tender spouse. It was evident that she might have passed the lace without danger, she would certainly take her ven geance lor the loss ot ner coveted prize in a good lecture. 1 avoid this horror it became necessary to convince the wife that there was really danger, one must be searched. Monsieur whispers to one of the customs' offi cers that he imagines the lady at his side has some lace hidden about tier persoD. she was immediately taken aside, and in a few minutes tbe otticer ot customs returned, his tace beamine with satisfaction, to inform the een tlemanj with a profusion of thanks, that the supposition was well founded.

The lady has at least 10,000 francs hidden among the folds ot her dress. Unce a Week. I IColonkl Napueqyi, lately accused of for ing the name of Reverdy Johnson to a letter. on the strength of which he obtained $50,000 from a New York broker, has been at length honorably discharged. A CHICAGO HORROR. EXPRESS AGENT IS DISCOVERED WITH A BULLET HOLE IX HIS HEAD NO CLTJE TO THE MURDERER. From the Chicago Republican, May 1.

Another horror, this time no less than deliberate murder, has thrilled the inhabitants of Chicago. Yesterday morning, about o'clock, a watchman employed at elevator belonging to Messrs Buckingham found a man with blood on his face reclining the steps of that building, his head resting against the doorpost. There was also a pool of blood on the ground near the man's feet. 1 funking that he was drunk and had fallen down and hurt himself, the watchman approached and attempted to waken him, when, to his horror, he discovered that he touching a corpse. A bullet hole was found in the head near the right temple.

Scattered around him on the ground were let and a memorandum book, all of which evidently belonged to him, although no evidences were there of a struggle or even a suicide. On the face and scalp were marks if burned by powder, indicating that the shot must have been fired by some one very near him. From letters it was ascertained that the deceased was George F. Carpenter, ex local agent of the Merchants' Union express company, at Davenport, Iowa, in which city he also resided with his wife. On his nerson were fonnd the Masonic em blems of the Blue Lodge, in the shape of sleeve buttons, as also the emblems ot the higher bodies of Masonry to the thirty second degree, ihese emblems consisted of sleeve buttons, rings, etc.

Yesterday forenoon Mr. JJavie, ot the hrm Davie, Clark Clayton, of Montreal, called at the Armory and recognized in the murdered man his brother in law, lieorge Carpenter. 11 r. Davis said that deceaackx came to this city some three weeks ago from Davenport, Iowa, where' he has formerly acted in the capacity already noted. Owing to the con solidation of the respective express compa nies, the onice ot: local agent in Davenport was abolished, and Mr Uarpenter lost his situation.

Leaving his wife in that, he came Chicago to seek another appointment, and took up quarters at the liriega Douse. Yesterday afternoon, the Uoroner held an inquest on the remains ot the murdered man: but, besides the above tacts, no evidence elicited to throw any light upon the mysterious occurrence. The deceased was the son of a doctor liv ing in the State' ot Vermont. His habits were very steady, although he was very socia ble and good natnred, and it is possible that these qualities led to his untimely end, having caused him to accept the companionship his murderers last Wednesday evening. His wife resides in Davenport, and the sad news of her husband's death was telergaphed her yesterday forenoon.

Reception to Hon. W. Hall. Our distinguished fellow citizen, Hon. W.

Hall, returned to this place on Tuesday morning last, trom his trip through Jiiurope, and was as fitting, a few of his friends tendered mm a reception at the Liogan Douse, in the evening, (juite a goodly number were pres ent, and at a few minutes past ten the com pany sat down to a splendid repast, prepared by Mr. Clellan. We say it was splendid, everything in order, ana ot tbe best, and highly creditable to the proprietor of the house, fully demonstrating that he can keep hotel. After all had partaken to satisfac tion of the oysters which were furnished in every style, with other substantias, and a su perior bill of fare in the way of pastrys and confectioneries, Ur. Bindley, on behalf ot the company, tendered Cpl.

Hall a hearty wel come to his home and the society ot his friends. In his remarks the Dr. referred to ancient Rome, and while his intention was simply to welcome our thrice welcome guest, yet his familiarity with the history of that classic city enabled him to impart infor mation in reference thereto, which was highly edifying to all present, and would have been well received as a lecture before a classic audience. Col. Hall followed the Dr.

in an address of some twenty minutes. He refer red, in a cursory manner, to the aspect ot the different countries through which he had traveled, and the manners and customs of the people, comparing each with this country. He gave us just sufficient insight into what he had noted, to make us wish to hear more from him, and wo earnestly hope that ho will con sent, at no distant day, to treat our citizens to a regular lecture touching on the topics re ferred to in his reply to Dr. F. He appears to have noted just what we want to know about those countries, but what book writers always forget to tell, or else do not see.

At a little past twelve clock the company bade the Colonel good night, and repaired to their homes. Altoona Trioune. Machinist's Tools Tor Sale. ONE Screw Cutting Engine Lathe, 15 inch shears, 25 inch swing. One Screw Cuttincr Enirine Lathe.
