Spirit can take on under a given Dean of Harvard Divinity School. Faith." This is an Irradiation from tbe Divine Spirit and traces Its fragrances to the Supreme "Holy Spirit." This Is what assures eternal life to the human rational soul. This is that of which Christ said, "That which is born the spirit Is spirit." May It do thee good, servant of God. For He hath quickened thee with this spirit and hath made thee living, and everlasting in His Great Kingdom. Thank thou God for this mighty Mercy and great Bounty and manifest success.

Another is the Holy Spirit, the "Word God," shining forth like the "Sun of Truth" to all the horizons and of which the penetration appears, the light spreads, the Fragrances waft by, the mentioning Is raised, the Command prevails and the sea agitates. Verily, thou art under its shadows. As thja world travels a circle, also human beings work out thelr lives in cycles. Every existence is created by the Infinite Essence. Man begins with God and first reaches the mineral condition or kingdom which is only matter, but contains a latent power of God.

Then be reaches the condition of the vegetable kingdom, which is matter, and also has the powers of growth, which the mineral kingdom has not. Then he progresses to the condition of the animal kingdom, which has the power of the mineral and vegetable kingdom with a third power added, that sensation (the five senses). At first enters the human kingdom. This progression is simply by the powers of God. fiouls are not created Independently of the body.

The seed of the child grows by the power of God within the human being. Just as the seed of the tree grows by the power of the eun. God is the real Bun The human being has the power of all the other conditions and has reached the point opposite and farthest from God; has passed through all the conditions of the material side. of the circle by the hidden power of God. The first is the descending scale in the natural and material one.

The second or ascending scale is the Spiritual. The first half the night; the second is the day. The world Is the greatest distance from God, but the rays of God upon It are direct ones. The world Is the darkest, but it is always so before the dawn and with the ascending scale begins the day. The world Is the worst condition for the soul if It remains in it, for It farthest from God.

It is in a worse condition than if It were In the condition of the mineral, vegetable or ani mal kingdoms, for it is farthest away rrom ioa. But lr man wants the light he gets it stronger and in a more direct ray as the other conditions receive but the slanting rays of the Holy Spirit. If he does not desire light, his condition is worse than all others. So the Manifestations of God are always In the human form because the sun shines directly on them and they receive the full power of God. The soul starts from God.

and if it enters the spiritual world, it returns to God. The Vegetable Spirit is the virtue augmentative (or growing or vegetable faculty which results from the admixture of the simple elements with the co-operation of water, air and heat. The animal spirit is the Virtue Perceptive, resulting from the admixture and absorption of the vital elements, gen-erated in the heart, which apprehends sense-Impressions. The human spirit consists of the rational (or logical reasonable) faculty which apprehends general ideas and things Intelligible and perceptible. Now these spirits are not reckoned as spirits in the termen-ology of scriptures and the usage of the people of the Truth, Inasmuch as the laws governing them are as the laws which govern all other phenomenal or material beings (called the World of Generatlor and Corruption), in respect to generation and corruption and production and change and reversion as is clearly indicated in-the Gospel where it says, "let the dead bury their dead." That which Is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit, inasmuch as he who would bury these was alive with the vegetable and animal and Rational Human Soul.

Tet did Christ (to whom be Glory), declare such dead and devoid of life, in that this person was devoid of the Spirit of Faith which is of the Kingdom of God. In brief, for these three spirits there is no restitution or return, but they are subordinate to reversions and production and corruption. But the Spirit of Faith which is of the Kingdom of God consists of all comprehending Grace and Perfect Attainment, salvation and the power of sanctity and the Divine Effulgence from the Sun of Truth on luminous light seeking essences, from the pre-essence of the Divine Unity. And by this spirit Is the life of the spirit of man, when it Is fortified thereby as Christ (to whom be Glory), said: T.natwh,ch lB born of the Spirit is Spirit" And this spirit hath both restitution and return, inasmuch as it consists of the Light of God and the unconditioned Grace. So having regard to this state and station Christ announced that John the Baptist was Elias, who was for to come before Christ.

And the likeness of this station is as that of lamps kindled, from one another (for these In respect to their light, or.e and in respect to their illumination, one); nay each one Is Identical with the other, without lmpuatlon of plurality or diversity or multiplicity or separateness. These are three births, first the material, second to be born of water; third to be born of the Spirit When man first enters the spiritual world he is born of water or the Truth and knowledge of God. He must become as a little child, unworldly, without Jealousy, enmity, covetousness. love money, etc To be born of the Spirit to give up all material desires and take On all the qualities of God. and begin to ascend the oher half of the circle.

The Spiritual half has an indefinite number of conditions, always progressing upwards. It is possible In one step to leave the lowest and enter the highest condition. Baha Cllah said.that all believers will go direct to God, but that all will not be In the same has his own condition, according to spiritual progress. When we die, we can see those In the I 4 FRANK HELDWEIJf, Supervisor. same condition that we are and we can see and understand those In a lower condition; but we cannot comprehend those above us.

Neither the body nor the soul of a human being will return to this world, but the Spirit of God in tbem may come again and is the same in all prophets. The difference is in degree. The same spirit spake in Baha Ullah that spake in Christ Thus, as we have seen that a prophet is the pro-duet of his age, what tremendous possibilities of perfection must be latent In the human race today, awaiting the quickening spark of Divine power and lpve from this Revelation to burst into richest blossoming. So powerful are the waves of the Spirit of God at this time that even mouldering bones, it would seem, must awake and pass into th. nVi of the "Regenerate, the Chil dren of the Kingdom.

The day of Adam was as tne rioing ui the sun. The day of Baha Ullah, Glory of God, is as the full moon tide. The Joy, fragrance and spirituality in the time of Moses, compared with that in the day of Jesus, was like a river compared to the sea. The spirit of God or the Holy Spirit is eternal. It is the pure favor of God, UliDlvln.

16t28 WILLIAM GLASS. Supervisor. 10 OF NORTH WEST'S CREW Welch and Wiseman Are Charged with Mutiny on the High Seas. When the steamer North West of the Northern Steamship Company arrived In port at 8 o'clock yesterday morning two deputy United States marshals, Conkling and Hettlg, were waiting at the foot of Main Street armed with warrants for the arrest of 1wo of the ship's crew, charging them with mutiny on the high seas. The two men, John Welch and Frank Wiseman, were taken into custody as they stepped from the gang plank of the bid boat.

The crime charged against the two men is one of the most serious in the federal laws. The complaint, made by Manager Frederick C. Cruger of the Northern Steamship Company, alleges that while the steamer was on Its way from Buffalo to Duluth on August I8th a number of the crew, headed by Theodore Larson, who ia now In custody, assembled In a mutinous manner, advanced on the French kitchen and attacked Chef J. Day and one of his assistants, a man named Huet. It Capt, George A.

Mlnar and Purser George G. Sutherland of the North West informed the authorities at Duluth by telegram. Upon the arrival of the steamer at that port United States officials were waiting and took Larson into custody. Welch and Wiseman were allowed to remain on the boat until It had completed Its trip to Buffalo, where they were arrested yesterday morning. A hearing into the alleged mutiny was held before Commissioner Robinson in the Federal Building yesterday.

After testimony was taken, the case was adjourned until a week from today. The men were taken to the Jail in default of ball, which was fixed at $500. The most important witness thl3 morning was Chief Engineer McDonald, who saw the whole affair. testified to seeing the group of firemen and coal passers gathered before the kitchen door and declared that Welch, Wiseman, Larson and two others were at the head of the gang. He then stated that the men broka into the French kitchen and started to throw dlahes, food, etc.

Storekeeper Huet was In the room at the tlmo and, according to McDonald, the crew of firemen made directly for him. It is then said that he 4rew a revolver and shot four times at the gang, tho shots, however, going wild. McDonald further testified tp taking the revolver away from the storekeeper and with the assistance of Boss Fireman Holmes, succeeded In getting the men to go back to work. First Officer William A. McKay, Purser Charlee t'-.

Sutherland and Sidney Graham, another employe of the boat, were witnesses. They did not see much of the affair, according to their testimony. Welch and Wiseman were allowed to take the stand in their own behalf, declaring that they had nothing more than any of the other fireman, who were not arrested, to do with the affair. They then asked for an adjournment until they could secure counsel. ARTHUR WADE AND LESTER STEAHHS HERE Assemblyman Arthur C.

"How will they line up as between Hlggins and Odell?" Mr. Wade wm sited "Oh, there Is no question but what Higglns will have some of the dl. gates," was his reply. Mr. Stearns said that he was out of politics and that he was now devoting his entire attention to the practice ot law.

Jerge of the City Fathers Hands Out a Pointer to Capt. Healey of the Supervisors and the Doings Next Saturday Promise to Be Very Lively. Supt. of Police Michael Regan and Chief Bernard McConnell of the Fire Department had their heads together for about half an hour yesterday after- 1 noon, and when rumors reached Supervisor Michael Healey that Alderman Henry F. Jerge was seen talking to Regan and McConnell, Healey Immediately got busy among the Supervisors, and last night the members of the county board were all agog over a rumor that was current to the effect that Alderman Jerge had been trying: to arrange with Supt.

Regan and Chief McConnell whereby they would favor the Aldermen In their ball game with the Supervisors at Olympic Park on I next Saturday afternoon for the benefit of the Emergency Hospital. Supt. Regan and Chief McConnell are to umpire the ball game, and Alderman Jerge said last night that In calling on the Police Superintendent and the Fire Chief yesterday that he had no thought of asking them to favor the Aldermen In that ball game. Aid. Jerge's Defl.

"The Aldermen have a baseball team that Is a crackerjack, and we don't have to ask any favors from the umpires," said Alderman Jerge to a TIMES reporter last night. "If Capt. Healey of the Supervisors' nine claims that we are asking any favors of the" umpires he is mistaken," Alderman Jerge continued, "for In the first place It would be useless for us to ask any favors at the hands of two such honorable officials as Supt. Regan and Chief McConnell, and In the second place If the favor of the umpires Is being sought by anybody connected with this game it must be some of the Supervisors, for they know their nine is sure of a good drubbing when it tackles the fast Aldermanlc nine at Olympic Park on next Saturday afternoon." Capt. Healey Talks.

"I do not care to be interviewed on this matter," said Capt. Healey of the Supervisors nine when seen last night, "but I heard from private sources yes terday afternoon that Capt. Jerge of the Aldermanlc nine was seen talking with Supt. Regan and Chief McConnell during the day. "I am opposed to saying anything for print, but there Is no use talking, those Aldermen have got to have some as sfstance from the umpires if they hope to score even one run against the Supervisors' nine in that baseball game on next aturday.

We have a lot of good players In the county board, and Jerge and his Aldermanlc bunch know it, and consequently they fear us. Now, Supt. Regan is an old friend of mine. ana nave always counted Chief Mc Connell as one of my friends, and while they will undoubtedly be made to feel that they ought to favor the Aldermen arter we nave shut them out for a couple of innings. I believe that they will act on the square and give the Supervisors all they are entitled to.

If we want to have them favor the Alder men in order that they may be able to make some sort of a fair showing against us. I will tip them off to do so in about the sixth or seventh inninar but we're going to Insist on everything Deing on tne square up to that time, otherwise we will call a squad of policemen and have Supt. Regan ruled off the field." May Turn In An Alarm. "But supposing It is not Supt Regan, but Chief McConnell that is favoring the Aldermen?" THE! TIMES reporter asked. "In that case," said Capt.

Healey, "we will have a fire alarm turned in from the downtown district, and you know that this will make Chief McConnell Jump Into his carriage and go back to Work." The baseball rivalry between the jAldermen and Spuervisors is now at "fever heat, and with the playing of the big game for charity at Olympic Park on next Saturday afternoon the championship between the two boards will really be decided, for this will be the twenty-first annual game between teams representing these two boards, and up to now each board has Won ten games. Several hundred tickets have already been disposed of for the baseball game, and the Indications are that every seat In the grand stand and bleachers at Olympic Park will be occupied on next Saturday afternoon, when, following a downtown parade of the Aldermen and Supervisors, headed by Father Baker's Boys Band, the fast nine representing the city and county boards meet on the diamond to determine the championship. A very handsome souvenir program Is being prepared for the baseball game, and In addition to the amount realized from the sale of tickets the Emergency Hospital will likewise realize a large sum from this program, which will be one of the handsomest souvenirs ever gotten out for any of the annual ball games of the Aldermen and Supervisors, "Matter is the best expression that environment" Prof. Everett PresidUng officer Grace Carew Shcl- First vice-president, Clara E. Consider the current general laws, as to what degree they are well founded, solid and secure. The blending and composition, development and growth of the elemental body has been gradual; so, also, its decomposition and disintegration must be gradual. If it Is disintegrated rapidly, then it will occasion a break and sudden transformation in the chain of evolution and this "Sudden transformation" will result in weakening the general connections in the chain of the existing In their composition, decomposition, union, separation and evolution, must be according st nwAr flloh. mighty law of God, so that no flaw ur ueioui 1 1 1 ix uneoi lilt) necessary connections which hav resulted from the reality of things. It Is a power oi growtn which attracts (or absorbs) the delicate materials of inorganic sub- el ance and transforms them to the condition of growth. Thus, those in organic substances become a growing vegetable, through the permission of Its Lord. Thus vegetable soul is a quality which is produced by the ad-; mixture of elements and It appears rrom accidental oeings or which con tingency Is an essential necessity. Another is the "Animal Soul." It is also a natural quality resulting from the mixture of the elements, their mingling and combination. It disappears with the dissolution of the body.

For it is a quality which results rrom the composition of bodies and is dispersed at their decomposition. All things are a contingent reality and are not a Divine reality. A contingent reality, if It continues to be Just as it is and is perpetuated by the fullness of existence, will suffer no corruption and thus it will be a Divine reality.
