The reopening services at New Cum berland, on yesterday, were a marked success in every particular.

The sermons of Rev. Dr. Hamlin were masterly efforts, and any attempt on our part to convey to the mind of the reader an idea of their power and excellence would fall very far short of the truth, and detract from their merits. But the most gratifying result of all is that the entire debt resting on the church and parsonage was entirely liquidated. In the morning the congregation was unusually small, owing to various camp meeting attractions and other causes, still, the Doctor, assisted by the energetic pastor, Rev.

Ever, succeeded in raising in the evening, the balance, $550, was raised. Consequently New Cumberland station starts out without anything to retard its progress andpower for good. Great credit is due Rev. Eyer for the energy, his increasing efforts to have the station start out clear of every incum brance. "A Pleasant Situation, Yesterday as a party ot young ladies and gentlemen were perched on a fence in the vicinity of the Stoverdale camp meeting1 awaiting the arrival of an omnibus in wmcn tney desirea to return to melstown, there was a run in between two hacks, and cries of alarm from the occupants weie heard, and an emptying out or passengers ensued.

A brave Jroung man George by name instant flew to the rescue of the unfortunates. Seeing a lady with an infant thrown out, he immediately seized the child, and when his companions reached the scene of the disaster, he was fondly nursing it and endeavoring to quiet its outcries; but the little one struggled bravely, and our "hero" seemed to be greatly embarrassed. It afforded considerable amusement to the lookers on, to see the young man's efforts, notwithstanding they fully appreciated his prompt action and willingness to relieve the ladles and passengers from their embarrassing situation. George promises to make a good nurse. Off to Williamsport.
