Harrisburg 44 Halsey 49 Jefferson 50 37 Sweet Home Viks Slug Albany 58-52 Bulldogs 36-26 At Half- Time "Albany's Bulldogs are still not the hoop often enough and last night dropped their fourth district 8 basketball game of the season. They were defeated by the North Salem Vikings 58- 52 (in tough basketball game. This is the second time that the Bulldogs have lost to the Vikings this year.

The ball was passed to John Wilson who swished it through the hoop. North Salem's Jack Loy duplicated the act and the score was tied at 2-2. The Vikings sank three quick field goals before Albany hit again and then North Salem ran the score to 10-4 with 5:03 remaining in the period. With Rene Moye and Buz Wilfert starting to find the hoop Albany ran to a 13-17 lead, in tact held a 19-14 lead with 1:45 remaining in the period when the Viks started to find the hoop again and scored eight points to lead 22-19 at the quarter rest stop. The' Bulldogs lost their shooting eyes in the second quarter and netted only seven points on five free throws and one field goal.

The Bulldogs outscored. the Viks in the third quarter 16-13 on field goals by Moye and Wilfert but the 10-point Viking lead that North Salem held at halftime was too great an obstacle to overcome. Albany was only one point back in the scoring in the fourth quarter when, with 1:28 left the score was 43-42, but the Vikings dropped through three field goals and then put on a freeze which left the Bulldogs helpless. The' Albany team was weak at the free throw line. Bob Tom led the Vikings in scoring with.

Loggers Trim Gales, 52-37 By GENE MANLEY GATES The Scio Loggers, coached by Stan Whipple, turned in their ninth league victory of the season here last night by downing the Gates hoopsters 52- 37. The win holds the Loggers in fourth place in Marion league action, just behind the Sublimity Saints. The Scio hoopsters had some trouble 'learning to get around on the small Gates gym but finally solved the problem, The Scio squad led 15-12 at the quarter mark and 27-20 at half time.

Dave Moore was high point man for the home team. He tallied 14 points. A Logger playing as a reserve, Ed Thurston, netted 16 points to lead his squad. Scio has three more league games this season. The first of the three will be played, here, next Tuesday, when the Loggers host the Mill City Timberwolves.

Salem By BROWNIE VALDES LEBANON -The Lebanon Warriors, hampered by the loss of starting forward, lost their eighth straight District 8 basketball game, here last night. The missing player was Forward John Pattinson who was declared in eligible because of scholastic difficulties. The winning team was the South Salem Saxons who romped over the Warriors 57-39.

Paced by Ron Russell who scored 20 points the Saxons took 10-8 lead at the first quarter rest stop and a 21-17 lead at half time. Coming onto the floor after the half time rest period, the Saxons played the same steady game that they displayed in the opening periods while the tire ing Warriors fell behind. The score as the final quarter opened was South Salem 40, Lebanon 26. Center Chuck Bachman WAS high point man for the Warriors with 16 points. Jim Hayden was second high with 11.

The Warriors have four league games remaining on the current schedule. They play North Salem, Bend, Corvallis and Sweet Home in that order. The Timberwolves walloped the Lions 55-50 in a Marion league basketball game. They had been defeated -by Jefferson 48-44 in game played a month ago. By winning last night, the Timberwolves not only handed the Lions their first Marion B- league loss of the year but also placed the Mill City unit in a possible tie for first place in the league.

The Lions, coached by Lee romped to a 14-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Timberwolves took over in the secend period and led 23-20 at half time. Jefferson had a hard time hitting the hoop in the second period, scoring only 6 points. Coming out of the half-time rest period the Lions had a still harder time finding the basket and in the third quarter netted only two points to fall behind 39-22 as the final quarter sounded. In the fourth quarter the Timberwolves' three big scorers fouled out of the game.

They were Ed Gregory who had tallied 16, Don Lemke with 18 and Don Ellingson with 10. With these three stalwarts gone the Lions took command of the situation and tallied 28 points to Mill City's 16 but not enough to overcome the big lead set up by the Timberwolves in the first three periods. Jerry Gamble with 18 points led the Lions in scoring. The Junior Lions won the game 62-31. Alan Nyman was high point man for the cubs with 17 points.

If Brownsville wins the tourney it gets trip to the district playoffs. If it loses it plays the winner of the tourney for the right to represent the league in district action.

Shedd took a decisive lead in the first quarter, 14 to 7, and added to it throughout the game. The Cards never were in danger of losing the lead. At the end of the 3rd quarter Shedd had a 17 point lead and increased this to 24 before the final gun sounded. In last night's preliminary contest the Halsey JVs downed the Shedd Junior Varsity 43 to 41. Larry Parker of Halsey scored 4 points in the varsity game and was high man in the game with 17 points.
