Alfred Frost, 76 years old, Theodore apartments, died Sunday at 1 her residence. She was the widow of Alfred Frost, Owen Sound, and ibnd lived In Winnipeg for ten years. Mrs. Frost was identified with the Methodist church and took an active part in missionary and altruis'lc work In the city. She va a member of Grace church.

She is survived by two sisters four brothers, five daughters and three sons. Mm. It. O. Jolliffe, Harvard Is a daughter.

VETERANS PARADE IN CELEBRATION OF HUN DOWNFALL Battle Scarred Heroes of 1866 Lead Party With Captured German Howitner Khakl-clad and to the steady of th drum, veterans of the Great war, and former wars of the Empire, paraded the itreets of Winnipeg today to commemorate the day of victory to allied arms. The veterans' band supplied the music. Tha line was headed Hiy the flag. Leaving the London building at 2 o'clock thf route followed was down Portage I ave. to Ionald, returning by Portage to Main st. as far as the Canadian Pacific railway.

On the return roitto, a halt was called at the city hali, where special patriotic music: was played by the band. The march was Bhort because the majority of the men were prevented by war wounds from walking fur. Supper was served to all the men by the Women's Hervioe League at the club rooms In the London building. An 18-pounder howitzer, headed the Army and Navy association's parade. It was dragged by eight of the oldest members of the organlr.a-tlon.

The gun was loaned by cers In charge of the war trophies exhibit. It was captured in 1915 by the Canadians. The standard followed, with the band in next place. THr came the executive of the association, the Women's Auxiliary, and the members. Consuls, newspaper offices and the city hall ware serenaded, with patriotic music.

Gal-braith, chemist of Manitoba Agrioul. tural college, died at tit. Boniface hospital today. Tho cause of -death was double septic pneumonia brought on by Spanish Influenza. Mrs.

GalbraJth, it was reported today, Is In a hospital In Eastern Canada with Influenza. This family has been thrice visited by death recently. Two months ago Mrs. (ialbraith's mother died, and her broter was killed last month while en active service. Prof.

Galbraith was one of the most popular members of the college faculty. He was a graduate of Uuelph Agricultural college and came to Manitoba as assistant lecturer In chemistry about six years ago. When Mr. Morden left about four ycarB ago he was promoted to head of the chemistry department. To Send Prisoners To New Prison Farm Prisoners occupy new buildings at the prison farm within the next few daya, it was learned today.

Huildings were erected by aqueduct contractors, and purchased recently by the provincial government. They include residence camps and stables. Prisoners will start work on the adjacent timber area. WINNIPEG LIEUTEKANT Wilts CBOiX DE GUERRE LIEUT. F.

Wilson, St. James. W. M- G. DesBrisay Succumbs To "Flu" VS.

M. G. lies' nrlsny, 224 Walnut died Sunday of pneumonia following Spanish influenza. He was city manager of the London Life Insurance company, Mr. Des Mrlsay was born In Lunenburg, N.S., In 3 878.

He was connected with the Hank of Montreal in Nova Scotia, later coming to Winnipeg, lie wns president of the Winnipeg Life Underwriters' association, and for two years secretary. The funeral was held this afternoon at 4 o'clock from Gardiner's to Elmwood cemetery. Hebrews Hold 'Wedding ot Death' to Halt 'Flu' Ceremony of 2,000 Years Ago Observed In East Kildonan Cemetery "The wedding of Death," an ancient Hebrew ceremony established about years ago to stay the ravages of a plague, was celebrated ut Fast Kildonan cemetery this afternoon, as a sacrifice to stay the "Ilu" epidemic. Hebrews and Gentiles alike were present to witness the ceremony. 1 It was the first wedding under the old orthodox religion ever staged in Canada, it was claimed.

Prohibited at ali other times, the ceremony was held at the orders of Uabbis Khano-vlteh and Oorodsky. The wedding wais most elaborate and had been planned for more than a month. At one end of the cemetery a quorum of ten Jews conducted a funeral. At tne other, tlAntlles and Jews witnessed a wedding. The ancient Jewish "Song of Life" was played.

On the west side of the cemetery, at the same time, Jews were chanting the wall of dcith, as a body was committed to the grave. Harry Flockman and Dora Wis-man were the contracting parties at the wedding. Rabbis Khanovitch and Gorodsky officiated. Following the ceremonies, services were conducted by the rabbis. Ancient Jewish chapters reserved for these ceremonies were chanted by the riibbls, and so repeated by nil Jews present as the wedding procession marched out of the cemetery.

Makes First Gift To Sailors' Week Fund The honor of turning in the first subscription toward the Pallors' Week campaie-n, which will be begun In the province by the Navy League I of Canada. I'ec. 1, has fallen to the rural municipality of St. Andrews. A I cheque for JT.U from the council was received at campaign headquarters today.

Two other voluntary contributions were received, from tho municipality of Grey and from Reeve Charles Ratlin, of Elm Creek, for similar amounts.
