The footbail contest Is a vital one as far as the Southwestern Conference championship is concerned, for East St. Louis and Belleville will decide things at their traditional Thanksgiving Day game. The annual struggle between the two teams will begin at 10 o'clock Sunday morning on the Flyer field, and the usual crowd of more than 7,000 spectator! is expected. An East St.

Louis victory would give the Flyers the title they have won for so many years now. A Belleville victory would in all probability throw the title into a four-way tie, pending confirmation by the conference. If the conference, at its early December meeting, decides to go along with the half-won, half-lost method of figuring tie games, a Belleville win would see both tha Flyers and the Maroons, along with Alton and Collinsville, share the championship. East St. Louis will take a 5-2-2 record into the game, while the Maroons own a 4-4-1 mark.

In the 41 games played to date, East St. Louis has won 31,. Belleville has captured seven and. three have ended in ties. The last Belleville victory came in 1951, by a score of 20-6.
