A year ago, Robbin won the crown in match play, Kerrl Rowe, a former Swamps-cott High School star, was named co-captain of the 1999-2000 Franklin Pierce women's tennis team. Rowe is a four-time New England Collegiate Conference Champion with two singles and two doubles titles. As a freshman, she was named NECC Rookie of the Year. She's also a two-time team MVP and projects to have strong fall and spring seasons.

Swampscott High's Haven Wynne is the No. 1 singles player on the girls' tennis team. The senior has won 55 of 56 matches. When the Gordon College men's soccer team defeated Babson, 4-3, it was its first win over the Wellesley school in 15 years. Gordon coach Marc Whltehouse is the former women's coach.

Junior running back Tom Diaz is making a name for himself at Whit-tier Tech. Against Greater Lawrence, he carried 30 times for 175 yards. Plymouth State College has some talented football players from the North Weekly area, including senior tight end John Andrews of Gloucester; freshman defensive back Justin Fallte of Saugus and Bridgton Academy; senior cocaptain and defensive back Colt Meredith of Saugus, sophomore wide receiver Shaun Spauldlng of Everett and Maiden Catholic, and freshman offensive lineman Tim Boothroyd of Amesbury. Meredith is a transfer from Northeastern, and last year he led the team in tackles from his strong safety position with 84. American International running back Mare SUvestri of Revere was named ECAC Division 2 North player of the week.

He scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 79-yard scamper during a 62-7 romp over Stonehill College. The Assumption College men's soccer team got off to its best start in history (5-1) and a key player is freshman Josh Boyle of Melrose, who scored a game-winning goal against St. Rose.
