Christ- cantata, "The Christ Child," will be presented this evening at 8 o'clock at the Methodist church. Floyd Bundle, the high school music instructor, will direct the cantata. About 80 voices, representing the musical talent of Warren, the mixed chorus and teachers of the high school, and the choirs of the churches in Warren will take part in the cantata. Mrs.

Roy White is the pianist. The soloists are: Miss Imogene Coppernoll and Mrs. Carl Reppert, sopranos, Miss Grace Volz, alto, Leo Wright, tenor, Rev. David Griffith, baritone. The Mother's Study club will meet Friday night at the home of Mrs.

LeRoy Geach. A pot luck supper will be served at 8:30. The Bethany Sunday school class of the Methodist church held its annual Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Elmer Doubler Monday evening. Christmas gifts were exchanged and boxes were packed lor Christmas.

The Jo Daviess Rural Mail Carriers' will hold their Christmas party at the home of Earl Sargent Friday evening. Guild Holds Meetinr The Presbyterian Guild held its Christmas party recently at the home of Miss Frances Van Deusen, with about fifty members present. Miss Deusen presided at short business meeting. Mrs. Robert Barker had charge of the devotionals.

Mrs. Austin Burrows gave a humorous reading. A group of ladies sang carols. The hostesses, Miss Van Deusen Mrs. Iva Leverton, Mrs.

Dalvin Wilcox, Miss Mary Lenzing and Mrs. Austin Burrows, served delicious refreshments. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Harold Dobler on Jan. 13.

Members of the Laurel Circle of the Methodist church entertained the husbands and friends at a 6:30 dinner at the church parlors on Friday evening. The dinner was followed by a program and exchange of gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Cook.

and Mrs. Leroy Geach, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Enright were among those from Warren who attended the "Messiah," at the senior high school in Dubuque, la. Sunday evening.

"Santa Claus at School. OGLE SHERIFF WILL SEEK LEGISLATIVE NOMINATION Oregon, 111., Dec. was made yesterday by Sheriff James T. White, Ogle county, of his candidacy for the Republican nomination for state representative from the 10th district, which includes Ogle and Jamw M. White Winnebago counties.

He will seek the seat made vacant by the death of Representative LeRoy M. Green Rockford. Another candidate for the post is Herman G. Nelson Rockford newspaper worker. The primaries will be held next April.

COVEY IS ELECTED FARM MANAGEMENT SERVICE DIRECTOR IN BOONE COUNTY Belvldere, 111., Dec. 3. Covey, Poplar Grove farm leadC', has been elected director of the new farm bureau farm management service to be. started here Jan. 1.

He will represent Boone county which is one of eignt northern Illinois counties to make the service available to farmers. Earl Hughes, of the extension department of the University of Illinois, will act as farm manager for this group of 240 farmers, including 23 from Boone county, according to D. M. Chalcraft farm adviser for the Boone Farm Bureau. The service Is a system of farm accounting which stresses tne keeping of financial records on the farm.

This is the first time it has been offered in Boone county. MRS, 6, CURRAN DIRECTS CHORAL SOCIETY AT LENA IN CHRISTMASJJANTATA DEC, 22 "The Shepherds' Christmas," by Morten J. Luvaas, will be given by the Lena Choral society of 42 voices Monday night, Dec. 22, in Lena Methodist church, with Mrs. George J.

Curran, Freeport, as the director. Miss Helene Dunn, Lena, will be accompanist. Mrs. Curran opens the program with a 15-minute organ recital. Mrs.

Willard Benninger, soprano, will sing the offertory solo, "Night of Nights," by Beardsley Van De Water. Rev. Alfred stone, pastor of Lena Amity Lutheran church, will read the scripture and the prayer will be given by Rev. Samuel Taylor, pastor of the church. Miss Caroline Pieper is president of the choral society, which was organized over a year ago in Lena for the purpose of giving the community an opportunity for concerts by people who liked to sing.

Wlnneshiek United Brethren Church Sunday school and morning woi- PLAN ME1EPW TO GIVE BASKETS AND TOYS TO NEEDY FAMILIES IN VICINITY Mount Morris, 111., Dec. only will the local Good Fellow club provide Christmas baskets and toys for the needy families in this vicinity, but this year will also provide gifts for each of the men from Mount Morris who is in active service.

Organized five years ago by Supervisor Jess H. Smith and Francis Michael this club has grown from around 65 to around 375 supporters. It is hoped that this year the 400 mark will be reached in membership. Because of the adJed responsibility it will be necessary that a special drive be made to reach this goal. Expect Santa Claus A custom which has prevailed here for a number of years will continue next Wednesday night at 7 o'clock when Santa Claus will be at the community Christmas at Kable Square, through the financial support of the Bindery, Typographical, Electrotypers' and Pressmen's unions of Kable Brothers company.

Annually members of these organizations see that around 400 -youngsters receive sacks of candy, fruit, and nuts from the hands of Santa himself. The Douglas fir tree which is near the Memorial fountain was presented to the village in 1938 by the American Legion and Business Men's league, and along with the rest of the business section is decorated for the Christmas season. To Show Movies Each Saturday night at 8 o'clock at the lodge at the Pin; State park south of Mount Morris Miss Alice L. Hills, naturalist stationed there, gives a lecture and shows movies, which are open to the public. Tali, week her films will be on forests and reforestration and she will tell about what is being done at the White Pines park to take care of the problems of a mixed forest.

Last week her films were on mammals, white tailed deer, beavers, bears and fur farms and she lectured on edible mushrooms. The Harmony Girls Sunday school class of the First Brethren church will hold a Christmas party Friday evening. Miss Barbaretta Gaul will serve as hostess. The Ladles' Guild of Trinity Lutheran church enjoyed a Christmas party in the parsonage Wednesday afternoon. MISS HELEN MONTAGUE TO RECEIVE NEW "SEEING EYE" DOG FROM FRIENDS Mt. Carroll, 111., Dec.

Montague, blind student at Frances Shimer college, whose "seeing eye" dog, Tom Von La Salle, died, will receive a new pilot dog in the near future. This was the news given her for the Christmas season by Dr. Albin C. Bro, president of the college. The dog will be the gift of Frances Shimer students and their parents, the Central Lions club of Chicago, and citizens of Mt.

Carroll. Helen expects to train with her new dog within the next two months, probably in Minneapolis where the "Master's Eyes" dogs are raised. HANOVER HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR CLASS TO GIVE PLAY FRIDAY EVENING Hanover, 111., eDc. of the junior class of the Hanover community high school will present their annual play at the school here Friday night. This year's production is a three-act comedy entitled, "Good Night, Ladies." Cows sold at from $115 to $142, spring calves at $47 each, 60-pound shoata brought $7.50 each and 100 June-hatched sold tor $1.17 each.
