DEMOCRAT -HERALD, FRIDAY, NOV .3, 2000 AB OREGON Grand jury indicts ex-funeral home director IN BRIEF Silverton teen killed in crash near Salem SALEM A 17-year-old Silverton girl died after a car crash north of Salem. Shawna Harris died Wednesday morning at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Baltazar MendozaGiron, 18, of Silverton, when the car crossed the center line and struck an oncoming northbound vehicle Tuesday afternoon. Harris suffered head injuries and was treated at Salem Hospital before being transported to Portland. Mendoza Giron and the driver of the other vehicle, 53-year-old Linda Aberg of Amity, suffered broken bones and were recovering at Salem Hospital satisfactory condition Wednesday, a nursing supervisor said.
